When do you draw the line with taking the kids hunting and the cold? I normally get warning from the wife when it gets down to 30 or below about having Eli out with me.
The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week. Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.
The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!

My Sons first deer at 10 years old, it was 16 degrees in Georgia. I had him wrapped in a sleeping bag in a hut. He fell asleep, and I woke him in time to shoot his first deer. He was a trooper, cause it was cold..
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

took a real good exwife cussing for taking my daughter deer hunting in 20 degree cold when she was sick. We sat in the truck with the heater running till a doe came out 200 yards away. She had pitched a fit because I didn't want to take her out because of the cold. Truck heater solved that problem.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Somewhere around 30 for my crew. No sense in making them miserable. There will be more days to hunt.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

When I hunt with kids I let them decide when to go and when to leave. To clarify, my Son was wanting to hunt bad that day. He had a brand new 243.

My boys will be all about it in the morning, they just may not stay as long. JT is 12 and he will stay until I get cold and ready, Trevor his twin may hunt an hour or 6 you never know but I just leave it up to them. If I drive an hour down there and whoever is with me want to go back to the truck to warm up or just leave after 30 mins I don't mind After about 16 we're gonna leave when I get ready.

Kids all over North America go hunting in much more frigid temperatures than we ever see here.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I do let him say when it’s time to go however I’ve never had good luck when it’s 20 or below and Eli is wanting to hunt Monday and Tuesday mornings. We have decided for mid day and afternoon hunt tomorrow. He wants a big breakfast in the morning and spend the rest of the day in the woods.

I agree, although he is talking TN and the temps are going to be single digit wind chills Monday and Tuesday. It’s going to cold in anyone that is hunting. An old army sleeping bag is the ticket IMO when it is like that. Sleep in, get some breakfast and hunt from noon until dark. They will have to move early and move often to the food sources in those temps.

When I hunt with kids I let them decide when to go and when to leave. I failed to realize, when our kids were, young, that this ^^^ is one of THE most important things.

It has yet to be too cold for my son. When he was little I would take a sleeping for him to bundle up with. I will admit the 11 degree temp and howling winds on Thursday morning in Tennessee were kind of brutal, but we did see deer. I imagine unless something drastic happens we will be out in it on Monday too.

wrap him up good, have the hot hands and feet packets, bring hot cocoa if in a blind. maybe even a little heater. if in a ladder stand or something, just bundle up. He's asking to go, then take him.
