Had a discussion with a friend the other night about small game hunters being almost a thing of the past. And I proposed the following question.

Two parts!

Part 1:
Would you join a 5,000 acre club with the following rules?

Deer hunting from Jan 1st thru Feb 10th only?
Turkey hunting during April only.
The rest of the year would be small game and hogs only.
Predator and hog trapping would be allowed.
Family membership outside of deer and turkey season.

Part 2:
What would you be willing to pay to join this club?

The less you pay the more members required to foot the bill.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I don't always hunt the line, but when I do, I make sure I'm close to my neighbor's 8 acre bean field.

I'd join for $200 if you could guarantee under 30 members.

That ain't possible so probably not.

Yup. Something like this.
Unless it was a no-brainer deal & convenient I wouldn't.

No. Just curious though. Will each member be assigned his/her own reserve area? Does family membership include in-laws and cousins? Are you practicing quality squirrel management (QSM)? If so, how many squirrel supplemental feeders are operated? How many acres designated as off limits rabbit sanctuary?

Hell with a limb rat, mole cricket, coon, turkey, rabbit, cald or whatever small game people hunt. I don't do it at the club I'm in now either.

Hunting club is for hunting. If I pay I want to play within the seasons that I choose.

Dues would need to be 1500 and up. Just to keep hard headed people and abusers out. Deer and turkey season should be offered as a whole season, with certain times during those seasons off limits to other types of hunting. I think I would get more for my money in that type of a club.

No. No way I would miss out on hunting early season bucks.
