What are you using as a pan cover ? I've experimented with brown coffee filters the last week and critters have uncovered two traps to get the filters. One was on a blind set with no lure or urine present.

I've seen mice dig up polyfill.

Knowing no one item is foolproof, what is everyone using to keep your traps functioning, especially in loamy soils ?

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I like to use polyfill and started using peat moss almost all the time.

Polyfil and bed in a peat/sand mix if rain is forecast.

I use a pan cover made of metal mesh.

I make mine out of wax paper, but if I am setting for just a few days and there is no rain in the forecast I won't use anything. I have a bucket of dry dirt on the cart and use it to cover the trap, then sift a little dirt from the site over last to make it match. I've never had issues with dirt getting under the pan as long as it doesn't rain.

I use screen wire cut to size.
