Whats everyones thoughts on this caliber? I'm considering using it as my go to deer rifle but not real familiar with it, I have seen some ballistic info and it looks to be about the same as a 22-250..

A fellow club member has shot a 25-06 as long as I've known him (many years). He's piled up a big truck load of deer with it. He's shooting an older Tikka T3 with fusion ammo. Seems to be a deadly combination. I don't know what ammo he shot before the fusion, but he loves that rifle.

The 25-06 is a fine deer rifle and ammo has never been hard for me to find. However, I've only been using one since the mid 90's.
83% of all statistics are made up.

I'd go 270 before I touched anything 25-06, but I'd go 280 before I touched anything 270, get the drift.

I hunted with mine for a few years. It is a go-to for coyotes but I do not currently tote it for deer. As a non-reloader, the best grouping offerings I found for mine were 100gr Rem Corelokts and 100gr PPU. They printed well under moa with range testing so I took them afield. I killed several good deer and many hogs and a few fell right where they stood. The problem was that those that ran left little to no blood trail. I rarely got an exit wound, just a bullet sized entry and explosion in the chest. I was unable to find a couple good bucks I know I killed because of this. I need to get some of the more recent offerings of the heavier grain rounds and see if they do better. Barnes!! You need solid copper. It's perfect for a bullet that size and speed. You will have an exit!
