I have a 100 acre track that only I hunt. I've planted 3 Greenfields that came up great. With the rain, they are thick and full. The problem is it looks like nothing is eating vthem. The grass is 10-12 inches high and no sign of eating. What's the problem?

I cut open the stomach of the doe I killed Saturday. Full of green (plot I assume), acorns (not white oak surprisingly), and a little bit of corn (not mine).

I got a different greenfield problem. Tips of my wheat turning yellow. I know that means it needs something. All the plots are minimal equipment throw n grow. Wish one of the resident gurus would tell me what fertilize to put on them.

Problem is twofold in my area - acorns and corn feeders.

Your problem isn't corn. There just isn't any deer evidently.

At least you got good germination. The mix we have used for the past 7, or so, years was very bad. Going back to mixing our own next year. The guy that runs that operation hasn't called me back, as he supposedly promised.

central ala,
I haven't seen your fields but from what you described sounds as though they where planted early and not enough grazing to keep them low. Not enough grazing could be not enough deer, better food elsewhere, or your plots just don't taste good. The not tasting good can be helped with soil conditions. If its 10-12 inches tall you're through or your deer are mighty hungry. Try planting later also.

I just don't understand why people don't recognize we have a problem in MANY areas of the state. This is not pointed at your pcamper. It's just been so glaringly obvious for so long and we continue to make excuses. It's too hot. It's too windy. Moon is full. Too many acorns. Corn.

Fact of the matter is it's none of the above. The answer is that there just aren't any deer.

I've made 5 hunts on my lease thus far and have yet to lay eyes on a deer. They just aren't there.

If there's deer tracks, there's deer making them.
Should be real easy to determine if there's deer there or not.
