here is how I would approach it if I owed someone money and couldn't make the payment.
I'd immidiateky make a list of everything I could sell quickly. Guns, fishing rods, tools, your brothers recliner. Then list every bit of it on Craigslist asap, and I'd put fire sale prices on it.
Next, I'd go through a detailed budget and find any extra dollars that y'all are blowing now, and find a way to save them. My family would be eating on beans and rice, while sitting around the fireplace talking, because we were saving the money on electric heat, and couldn't watch anything on tv because I sold it on Craigslist. Not that we would miss the tv much, because the static was pretty boring after cutting off the cable subscription. You get the picture.
Next, I'd look at the best way to increase my income. Pick up another 1-2jobs, work overtime at your normal one, pass out fliers to clean people's gutters for $100 a pop, etc. There's absolutely no excuse for anyone in a situation like yours to be earning income for less than &0-100 hours a week.
After you do these three things, you will have the freedom to address how you deal with the truck going forward.
There is absolutely nothing fun about what I suggest, but it's time for you to nut up and take responsibility for a bad decision. In my mind, I'd move heaven and earth to pay back every cent that someone lends me. Whether it be a bank or individual, it's simply the right thing to do.
t This - got to pay your tab.

Go to carmax immediately and get a trade-in offer. They'll buy the trade in without actually making you buy a car from them. Hmmmm so how will that affect me and the lender? ....if they give you $28K or close to it, you take it and give it to the lender. Easy peasy. Got my attention.. So say they offer 23k.. What happens to the 5k difference? I have to come out of pocket?? No, the tooth fairy will pay it. YES - YOU owe the money.

So what is the payment for the wife's car? If she doesn't work then you really only have to have 1 car. Also is the 28k the payoff amount from the lender or the amount of payments remaining? I was thinking similar to the same lines. If there is some equity built up in the Enclave, maybe you could go take both vehicles to trade in for your wife another vehicle. A 2 for 1 kind of deal. Hopefully, there is equity in the Enclave and you could cover the loss that you have to take on the Tacoma. And then you are back to a single payment if that's where you are trying to get too.

Sound advice. It is amazing the amount of "stuff" we own. I pray you do not allow pride to keep you from selling everything of value (if needed) to get out from the weight of debt.

L Just Curious, you’ve had the truck for 11 months and you just came to the conclusion “I just can't see myself paying 570 a month for 4 more year ..” If you default on that loan, its going to effect everything you do. If you apply for a job, they will most likely run your credit. If you go through with that plan, dont plan on doing any purchases or change in life for 5-7 years. And If by chance you end up either divorcing or marryiing, your really screwed. Don’t do it!!

I used to be like a lot of you. I used to think that only people that were financially irresponsible ran into financial problems. I used to think that it would never happen to me. Then I went through a divorce. I then realized that financial problems can happen to anyone. I also learned that it wasn’t worth loosing sleep and my health over.

It happens to everyone unfortunately and its a lose lose situation.. I have read a lot of these comments and there sure is a lot of finger point and a lot of good supportive comments and I really appreciate those. I'm not looking for criticising comments, I hate to let the truck go but I have financed all j will need to and really don't see myself having to in the next u years, so if it does affect.my credit I'm not really worried about it.. I try not to finance much and try to pay cash for most things..at the end of the day I am letting a 600.00 payment go back and will pay whatever the difference is.. And I will be in a truck that will cost me nothing. 600.00 is a lot of money every month

Yea but when it goes back there will be repossession fees and clean up fees. Auction fees and then the big one , Attorneys fees plus a ton of interest. You will end up paying them about 75% of what you owe with no truck. Companies that finance cars are typically very aggressive. Unless you are willing and able to file for bankruptcy. DONT LET THE TRUCK GO BACK.

Have you got enough to pay down the truck to it's actual value? Then selling it would be easy
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!
