They MAY still be there. Maybe not.

That's probably the most accurate advice anyone can give you.

Yep, spot on. I've seen some tracts that winter birds and have absolutely 0 in the spring, and I've seen tracts that they use in the fall and spring. What's the land like and we might can give you a better answer?

In the spring they want some open land and the hens want nesting cover. Sounds like you have open areas with the deer plots. If there is nesting cover you oughta be in business. Large tracts of nothing but big hardwoods can be loaded with turkeys in the winter and not have a one in the spring.

Land is rolling hills, with the bottoms being hardwoods both young and old. And planted pines in the ridges from halfway up. Each ridge has a road and a couple of food plots. Im also surrounded by public land.

I had 13 gobblers in a foodplot yesterday. I’ll be lucky if 1 is on property when season arrives

Like they said, nesting is the big deal in the spring. That's where the hens will be and so the gobblers will follow. How old are the pines?

what PCP said. I hunted a 1700 tract along the Warrior at Lock Seven that was LOADED with turkeys in winter....come March/April there wern't many still there. The hens left for surrounding higher ground with more nesting cover and the gobblers followed.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I won't have a turkey till January then they will stay till first of April and gone again. I have to take advantage while they are here.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
