Well I have hunted everyday except 2 since season started. Before season started I would have had many deer and wall hanging bucks coming in everyday twice a day. BUT since season strated I only seen them one time and not close enough to shot. Just getting discouraged and could use some wisdom. I assume they are eating acorns since they are plenty instead of coming to where I am. Just loosing my mojo. Happy I am in the woods but need to see some deer . HELP with any advice.

Dont give up, that's just part of hunting.
I get loke that at times but I stop and think about what a blessing it is just to be in the woods and moving about.

Are you hunting the same spot or same few spots every time?

They will be there when the wind turns out of the North.

I would give area time to rest and hunt the other side of property and try and find a different buck to target.

Without knowing more, I'm going to say either the deer have changed patterns, which is normal, or you're over hunting. You need to figure out which one. You know you're seeing less deer. Are they moving more at night or did the food source and bedding cover just change? Sometimes when you stop seeing deer in a particular honey hole it's just deer doing what they do.

I can't say for sure because I haven't seen trail cam pics telling me they're moving more at night. I can say one thing with near 100% certainty, if they are taking trails that are moving them out of bow range and you are seeing fewer shooters, that tells me you may be over hunting that stand. Look, I'm all for putting time into a promising spot. I'll even hunt it several days in a row but conditions have to be right.

My advice/wisdom is hang more stands/learn to be mobile. That spot isn't dead yet, but you need to move around and make sure the spot you're hunting has the right conditions.

Sounds like you need to move off the corn pile for a little while.

My first question. How did you determine they were coming twice a day before season?
Second question. What changes occurred after season opener?
Answer those and your riddle is likely solved.

Thanks guys and I believe it is a mixture of all those things and I am in a club and the draw back is cant slide to the other side of the property. I will let them rest and wait a few days before I go again. Praying they will go back to their old pattern. And agreed no bad day in the woods.

If youre hunting the same stand every time you go...I highly doubt any "Wall Hangers" are going to come around...much less any other deer over a year old.

Everytime you go..you leave scent, spook deer that get up and sneak off without you knowing they were there , and PRESSURE the deer.

The number one factor besides wind direction IMO is PRESSURE.

Pressured deer only move at NIGHT.

Hard to see them then.

You need to have MORE stand sites so you dont pressure deer.

Why cant you go to the other side of a CLUB? do yall have assigned places?

I've only been able to hunt twice (both saturdays), but I've seen nothing but some squirrels and a few turkeys....I have yet to lay eyes on a deer...at any distance...

it could be worse

Hate to say it but it sounds like you've just pounded the area you were getting pics. If you've hunted it everyday since opening day, you can pretty much just write it off. Pressure and scent have put any older age class deer completely nocturnal or at the very least altered their travel patterns around your stand. Giving it a couple day rest wont fix it. Your best option is probably to try to find some new bucks to hunt. AND DONT OVERHUNT THEM. WAIT TIL THE WIND AND CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT. If you want to just hunt to say your hunting, go ahead but if you want to kill big mature deer, I learned a long time ago that less is often more. Your best chance to kill a big deer is your first or second sit. After that, you chances probably drop down to less than 5% in my opinion, especially this time of the year.

let what i just said simmer on the brain for a long time ...

Nah, it’s not burned for good but I would let it rest several weeks and when you start hunting again, make sure the wind conditions and all other conditions are good. Tree stand burnout is more from how you get to the stand, leave it, and when you hunt it than the actual number of sits. That spot can turn around, you just have to know to get out and stay out. I would even wait until rut. If they does are still moving through there, you just may get another shot at a 3.5+ buck.

Sounds like you ain’t hunting the right spot. If it’s public land, you’ve got to wear out some boot leather. If it’s private, the same if it’s a large tract.

Feeling better took a few days off from my stand I am wearing out and had a four pointer come by about 35 yards. So maybe the wall hangers may swing back by??? Never know
