On the rear wheel the bearing has gone out. I took it apart today and what a mess. The bearing was gone but the spacers were still in place. The piece on the shaft came off but the piece on the frame? is frozen on there. It is a knock in seal but I can't get behind it to knock it out. How would be the best way to get this piece out? Should I just put it back together and go until it breaks down? Mule is 25 or so years old. This is the original bearing.

You shouldn't be bearing on your mule.

laugh

I haven't worked on any of them, good luck with it.

can you shatter it with a chisel? heating it will help, if possible.

Thought about it for a while. Went to Troy to get a pneumatic air hammer and chisel to do just that. Troy has a new Harbor Freight Tools! No help at all and I was excited on the way back home. If I could get behind it and hit it, it may come out.

I thought you had a bad bearing with a seized race till I got to the piece on the frame is frozen part, ya lost me. Sounds like it's already broken, BTW.

Like Bunny said , post a pic.

I don't know all the technical words for it but the outside of the knock out bearing is stuck in the sleeve. Been riding it for a few years like this just decided to do something about it today.

To small for a cut off wheel. That's what I was hoping the air hammer would do. Brake it in two and get it moving but I just messed up the chisels.

Do you have a dremel?
Seems like a pack of blades and a cold beer would get whatever problem you have off.

I've got about 45 bucks in it and maybe an hour of time in it. I'll get a pic on here tomorrow.

Straight shank die grinder and carbide burr. If it's a bearing or race it's hardened tool steel , hammers and chisels won't cut it.

Wear safety glasses. Those die grinders throw a lot of metal

You can weld a line at the bottom straight in and weld a line on each side of that in the center of the race half way around the race and it will fall out. It will shrink the metal and make it easy to remove.

If only knew how to weld. You doing that with a torch or a wire welder? I can probably figure out a wire welder.

You can do it with wire or stick welder.
