Is it just me or has there been more big bucks killed this year then last year? I know there are always some killed that aren’t public knowledge but this year seems to be year of big bucks. I’ve seen more bucks posted on here and Facebook pages then I can remember at this point pat year. Friend of mine killed a a huge 10pt yesterday afternoon and talked to a older gentlemen yesterday at the store that had 8pt that was over 120” in the back of his truck.

Maybe more people are learning to manage for older age class deer? Appears that way.. I think the 3 buck limit has had a hand in that too. Their was a write up in AON magazine about how the quality of bucks in Alabama has been improving over the last few years

I hope it is, and I hope I get to contribute! I hope I do as well there’s been some good ones put on the ground and this is the best bow hunting weather we have had it several years.

Buck limits probably have a small factor but early season is the best time to kill a mature buck and we are seeing it early season. Big boys will change their patterns soon and you will see a decrease until the rut starts. Normal tactics will need to change after this weekend to get on the mature white tails.

Heck I've missed two 130's this week. I sure hope that I can kill the next one.

Last year we had a drought. Antler development was terrible per age class. This spring and summer we had a lot more rainfall and antler development seems to be very good. The clubs that do manage well harvested very few last season due to poor development. This year there appears to be a lot more 3+ year olds walking and they have better antlers. There goes Matt, sciencing up the place again.

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!
