Is there an efficient way to kill an In Ground Nest of these suckers? They sent me to the ER last night because I did not notice the nest that I was standing inches from and got hit twice.

Not the best way to find out your highly allergic to them all of the sudden.

Anyways, point of the post what's the best way to make sure the entire nest is dead? Price doesn't matter because no matter what it's cheaper than my life and probably cheaper than another visit to the ER.

Thanks guys and gals

I thought you aren't actually supposed to light it

Move in real slow and find the hole. Go in at night and pour a little gas in and lay a rag on top to keep the fumes in.

Hot water with 1/2 bottle of dish detergent at night. Won't kill the ground around the hole.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Never, ever light gasoline with a match. It's a good way to get killed. The gasoline fumes is what kills them. No fire is needed. The fire is more likely to kill you.

I've used the gas trick on yellow jackets in the ground, worked good. Just pour 2-3 ounces of gas in the hole and light it (at night when they are dormant). Burned for about 5 minutes, checked it the next day and no more yellow jackets

Cheapest spray can of hornet & wasp killer @ Wal-Marks works fine for me. Find the hole, spray the hole = very dead yellow jackets.

Put a glass jar over the hole after the gas goes in so they won't get out.

If you do light it, realize that the nest is paper and will smolder underground even when there are no flames. A little gas with a long ignition source will do the trick, but like others said, ignition is not needed to kill them or at least run them somewhere else.

I don't see where anyone mentioned whatever you do, do it at night when they are all in the nest.

Video is required if you attempt it in the daytime.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I’ve always poured mix gas (weed eater) in the hole at night. Then light. I never cared if the grass was killed at that spot. As small bare spot is worth it to me.

I would rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

A bare spot only serves as a trophy of my victory over the little bastages.

Diesel works well also and is safer to light than gas.

An old big gulp cup, quart fruit jar, large tin can, bout 12oz gas, slip out there at night, pour the gas down the hole quickly and leave the container upside down to seal their fate.

Just fill up a 20oz coke bottle with gas and plug the hole. Problem solved.....

More fun if you light it though.....

Yep, just walk up, pour it in and walk away. No need to run. They aren't coming out. A medium sized metal coffee can is my measurement and container of choice

So what I'm getting is this:

1) Must use gas or something highly flammable
2) Definitely have to ignite said gas
3) Most effective if done during the day
4) Have someone to record these actions for the internet

If I'm correct I will proceed today.

*****Honestly though thanks for all the answers, I heard that there are sometimes multiple routes/holes that the yellow jackets use so I wasn't sure if I needed to go about finding all of them or worry about one at a time. I don't care if they all die as long as they all go somewhere that is far enough away that they don't take me to an early grave.
