25 feet up, Wheeler Wildlife Refuge!!!

I just got settled in. I’m hunting the whiteoaks just hoping see some deer this morning.

Set up and waiting and can hear deer walking all around.

Set up, on a nice trail between bedding and food. The chill in the air is nice too.

I’m here. No way I’m seeing deer today, I was so loud climbing. My snake boots don’t like my climber, slid a few times. But it feels nice out, maybe I’ll get a nice nap

First hunt. Wind is whipping. We will see what happens.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll be able to stand up and draw. I should have picked a holler.

Present. Up on a ridge between food plot and bedding. Got a couple nice bucks in this spot. I'm not too optimistic but it's my only option with this wind.

I’m here. Got in a little later than I wanted. Hopefully a good buck comes through but I may kill another doe if she stays too long. Good luck everyone.

Saw two does before we could even get the camera equipment set up this morning. I'm glad it's finally cooling off. About 55 here and the wind is blowing about 80 mph.

Got in about 6, right away was able to make out a doe and 2 fawns on the field @ 30yd with my binoculars but quiet now

No seriously, I stepped on my footrest on my climber will it was half folded down and it was super loud. Then when climbing the bottom half slipped out and I had to pull it back up. These deer must be deaf, because they came from where I walked in...

Saw 2 when it was just breaking light. Then a few minutes ago I got to witness a absolute deer ass whoopin but not shot on anything yet. Been a good morning

today is gonna be a good one, especially if it stays overcast. I'll be out there this afternoon.

Just had a tall 6 point come through. He snuck up on me and I couldn’t draw until he was out of range.

745 a doe came into 30 yards

Exactly! Don't know about the rest of the state, but here around our neck of the woods it's dang strong!! Gonna try to go after lunch today, but I'm not interested in all this wind.

It was nice and calm here until about 30 minutes ago, now the wind is whipping!

Was going to get down at 10 but waited until 10:30. 2 big does showed up at 10:29 and I couldn’t resist.



This one is probably 30lbs bigger than the one I killed yesterday.

I was walking out and bumped a doe up the hill about 60 yards. I just froze where I was standing and she fed back down the hill to 38 yards. Finally got my first bow kill small doe but she will eat and after not seeing a deer all of bow season last year I may have been a little trigger happy.

Seen a bunch of does this morning. Drew back on a yote but no dice. Bout to pull my camera and head to another spot again afterwards.

Congrats on kills. Set up for this afternoon and at edge of thicket and got two big chickapin oak trees loaded and raining down got rubs and a lot of deer sign under. Hopefully this cool front will push a good buck by before dark.

Been set up about 20 minutes. Already had a small doe and 5 stupid gobblers come by. Windy up in this mountain.

Cool front finally made it down to my neck of the woods. Glad to see the humidity gone. Headed for my tree.

Got a late start, it’s been a rough day so far. Climbed in a group of white oaks on the side of a slough with thick bedding area next to me. The wind is whipping but it feels good to be in the woods. Good luck and stay safe.

Im sitting just off a gas line. Clear cut in front of me and hardwoods to my back. Our fields already look good so we'll see how this goes. Im hoping the wind will die down close to dark.

First sit for me. Ran to a spot I needed to check cam. Been about 50 days since checking it. Wind is perfect and just need one to walk the trail.

Congrats on the deflations!! Been up since about 2 o’clock this afternoon, large white oak ridge with e a huge kudzu bedding area all along one side. I’m actually chilly.... Should have put on a thin base layer.

Small 4 just came through. No shot on him. Was hauling and stopped about 25 yards then took off again.

I'm on the ground on top of a ridge in a pile of brush looking down into a hardwood bottom. Nice well used trail halfway up the ridge about 20 yards below me.

Shot a small bobcat twice. First time low and then he came closer. Knicked him and my rage stuck in a root underground. Lost that broadhead

Saw two doe n yearling. 5 yards. Got first bj of year also.

Nothing for me this evening. Back at it in the morning.

Sorry so long after my original post. So I went out the last two mornings and saw a lot of deer but I noticed most were off the east way out of range. I decided that I would move my stand this evening, I found a scrape line after I climbed down this morning. I got up in my tree and honestly didn't think I was going to see anything. Then at 6 o clock I heard this buck come up from behind me, that was the only direction I didn't have a shot. He gave me a very small shot window at 55 yards, but I decided not to try to thread the needle and was upset because I figured he was just going to walk off. After sitting in my self pity for about two minutes I hear him circling back and walking to me. He got 30 yards and turned broadside and I let the trypan fly. Hit him a little high but I was so high in the tree the arrow actually came out low. He ran 30 yards and stopped and I watched him fall. It took all I had not to climb down and go get him right then. This is the biggest Alabama deer I've shot and biggest bow buck as well. Thankful I was able to get out today!!! Not sure why the pic doesn't show up.

First sit this evening saw doe with a yearling and four hens. It felt great to get back out there.

Sat this morning and afternoon on a food plot. Was in the tree since 2:00 and right at 6:00 a 6 point came into the field to my left and was munching on the buck forage oats @ 25 yards but couldn't squeeze an arrow through my cover. He starts to leave the field to my left and right before he enters the wood line I sling An arrow at 13 yards. First bow buck and was curious if I hit high because of the way he responded after the shot. I climbed down at 6:50 and started the blood trail. Started off as a small speckles here and there but after 15 yards he started gushing blood. I followed the trail and it turned into little specks of blood so I backed out and I'm going to search in the morning. Hopefully I will find my first bow buck. Good job guys

Heck of a buck rooster congrats. I had two good bucks come in this afternoon and stayed in the thick stuff until about dark then fed out in the field. I slipped out hopefully undetected so I can try them again tomorrow
