Starting to make sense. I’ve only shot mechanical heads except for muzzy one season. I just compensated with them. It’s a Ross Cardiac so it isnt a newer super fast bow. I’m going to check the weight and try a 340 tomorrow. Yes all arrow set ups group well. Field or broad heads. May have some arras fer sale by tomorrow!!!. Hahaha

Well, couple of things after taking it to Archery Unlmt. Serving slipped and was out of place. Sight was slightly misaligned as well. Got it paper tuned and going to try my arras again today. Try them once more before spending more money on the stiffer spine. He said I might be okay since it is a solo cam bow. 29” draw length. Pulled 72 lbs (surprise me). Shot 294fps. See what she does this evening I guess

At 29” and 72# you need a 300 spine.

At 29” and 72# you need a 300 spine. Exactly what I was thinking. Do yourself a favor and just go on and get 300s. Your bow will be quieter, your broadheads will hit where you want them to, and you’ll get better penetration.

Or drop your weight to 65# and go with the 340’s. Your bow will be quieter and you’ll be able to draw easier, especially when seated.

Thought about dropping the weight and going 340s. Field tips grouped great this evening but the ram cats still flew a few inches high and sometimes right. Too far off. How much speed will I lose and does it matter? Should I just shoot expandables?

Some folks aren’t micro people and have no problem drawing 72 lbs while sitting down. Get back with me when you set up as many bows for people as I have. Besides shooting a draw that’s too long for them, having the draw weight set low enough so they can comfortably shoot is the biggest problem I see with the people that come to me for strings and bow set up’s, regardless of their size. Lot of guys seem to think their dicks get bigger if they’re shooting 70#. If you can do it fine, but the majority of people I see shoot better if they turn it down a few pounds.

I had no idea I was pulling that much. I’m gonna turn it down a touch, buuuut if I notice any shrinkage I’m turning it right back up. And going to buy some really big tires for my truck!!!

If you can comfortably pull it, then by all means stick with it. But you will need a 300 spine arrow and may still have issues tuning those heads.

It’s nothing about a big dick. Some people are stronger than others. Some folks drive a golf ball 200 yards and some drive it 350. It’s all personal strength. My bow is set at 70 lbs and I usually shoot deer while sitting down and it is absolutely no problem for me. Just saying, this dude could be a guy that benches 400 and curls 200 and it is nothing to him.

Good for you. I offered an opinion and you did as well. But for some reason, and maybe I’m wrong and you left a smiley off, you seemed to get all wadded up over my opinion and threw the size comment out there. And from my experience, the folks that brag about shooting 70# and make comments about those that don’t, think it’s a dick measuring contest. Before my neck and back injury, I could draw 70# sitting down. Now I’m weaker on my left side and can’t do it. Again, I hope I’m taking your comment wrong.

Well, men I am pretty darn sure it’s all sorted out now. Think I got my bow problem figured out too . I dropped by the shop today and started to buy 1 or 2 340s. After talking with the fella that sold me the 400s he traded me back out for 6 fresh 340s. Couldn’t believe it. Awesome gesture!!My plan was to slowly back off the poundage til it worked....or not. Field tips shot fantastic and grouped better than ever. Went home after work and shot sets of 4. 2 field tips then 2 Ram Cats. Only got out to 30 yds so far but they are cutting the Same holes <2” groups!! Didn’t have to back off the poundage...yet anyway. Thanks guys for getting me going in the right direction and educating me some as well. I’ll get the other pins dialed in and post some kill pics this weekend!!! I hope! Seriously, THANKS!

My ramcats shoot 1 inch high and maybe .5 inch right. I can group them on the bullseye by compensating a little but it’s such a small margin it doesn’t really matter to me. That’s out to 30 yds, haven’t gone past that yet. They are an excellent broadhead so far for me and are worth the hassle of tuning to get them to fly right. However, I’m having my bow re-strung this week because it needs it badly so I will have to tune my bow again I’m sure. I would love to wait and let Shaw do them after the season but I’m not sure they would last. I’m not a bow expert so I don’t know for sure, just playing it safe.
