My son can’t seem to get a break. The J.I.A. Has really done a number on him this year and I have questioned whether or not he will be able to get around good enough next year, but last Thursday we found out that he has a rare disorder called Fibrous Displacia as well as Marfans Syndrome. He has been having a lot of trouble walking due to his hip and knee so after several trips to Children’s hospital they diagnosed him and immediately did his pre-op and scheduled his surgery for Wednesday the 18th. He will be able to hunt Saturday and maybe Sunday and that will most likely be it. They said it will be at least 4 weeks before he can move around and 6 months minimun for recovery. They are going into his hip to do several things to include a bone graph. He said that he is hoping to be able to walk out to his shooting house by mid December which is when the rut starts to kick in where we hunt, I hope so he is still trying to get his first kill with the cross bow and it has been really hard on him this year.

I'll come help you tote him to the stand if he wants to go bad enough Ill be glad to help with that also. I have a good ground blind with plenty of room. If you want you pick out a spot for him to get a shot, we can get it set up. I can get with beadlescomb and getting your son there wont be a problem.

Thanks everyone, I don’t have a lot of friends or family so I usually come here to vent after things build up for awhile. It gets depressing watching my son go through this crap even though he can be pretty positive about his situation. I had made plans to take him on a DIY deer hunt in KY next Fall but I wonder about his ability to do that, and the fact that I have about had it with my boss. My wife and I talked about it and she is convinced that it’s time to move on but if I do then there goes my 2 weeks of vacation and my sons KY hunt for sure. I hope and pray that he recovers quickly like he’s convinced that he will , so that he can get back out there this year.

Michael got his first kill with his crossbow, killed a 132 lb doe within 30 mins of getting in the stand. They walked in to 18yds before he shot the biggest one. I am proud of him for hanging in like he has, its been a very long two years trying to get his first kill with it.

Well, two hunts Saturday, one doe, and he got up this morning and went to church with his girlfriend for the day. I will not be able to be there for his surgery due to work but should be there when he gets home. I want to thank everyone if you for your words of encouragement and more importantly, your prayers, he is a strong young man mentally but this illness is taking a toll on him even though he will not admit it. I will update this Wednesday evening after I know how he is doing. I am going to wait and see how things go and what the Dr has to say before I make a determination about a question that I may have.
Thank you all

Well the surgery went good but he is in an extreme amount of pain, hopefully he will get to come home tomorrow. I told my wife when he gets to feeling better to tell him that if he gets to craving human flesh, or making demonic sounds, then we’ll know about the cadaver they got the bone from.

Things are going bad, he’s very sick, they are going to have to catheterize him and he has an enlarged heart valve.

They released him but on the way home wife took him to his pediatrician, had to go back to the ER (UAB Highlands ) since that was where the surgery took place. The people there were horrible so wife took him to Childrens Hospital. He has apparently developed an ungodly infection in his groin in the short amount of time he was at the hospital, they had to catheterize him but he still has to see the surgeon who did the bone graph.

Roller coaster thread, SBO. Prayers for healing, comfort and strength for your son and for you as parents too! Prayers for wisdom and discernment for the medical staff treating his infection and condition.
May God bless you with a sense of peace in an otherwise trouble-filled world.

Well this is how it went. Surgery on Wednesday, had to get a catherter after the surgery, released Thursday afternoon but on the way home my wife took him to his pediatrician due to the severe amount of pain. Pediatrician told her to take him to the ER which she did. They spent all night and most of Friday morning before being admitted. After hours had gone by they decided to release him but before the ink had dried on the forms the Ortopedic surgeon came in and re-admitted him due to his heart rate being too high. He finally made it home today after 2pm. Glad he is home but not happy with the way the hospital handled things, not sure why they sent him to UAB Highlands but he won’t be back.
Thanks to all of you for your prayers
