Don't we have a couple wardens on this site? Why don't they ever chime in on such simple subjects? I understand not debating every little rule but it'd be nice if one could speak up on such simple matters. The same reason that the local biologist don't chime in any more.....because everyone wants to argue with them because they think they know more than the professionals do. This one is simple. It's yes, or no. Not really simple. Could I bring my scoped Ruger 44 mag? I'm pretty sure I would get a ticket for that.
I love my country, but don't trust my government.

Are you pretty sure? Or do you know?
Presumption often is incorrect.
Calling the DCNR to ask outright and checking the laws are the best ways to reconcile questions.

I just called the Tuscaloosa DNR office about this. They said that yes you can continue to shoot hogs with rifles. But you can no longer hunt them at night or over bait.
GO NOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could be wrong but is this directed more as a question that IF someone were to really be hog hunting with a rifle would they get a ticket. My guess would be yes you would because there would be no way to prove you were hog hunting and not deer hunting. Your safest bet would be stick with the bow and pistol.
Only accurate rifles are interesting.

I understand not debating every little rule but it'd be nice if one could speak up on such simple matters. Won't do no good, it's best to call your local GW Only problem with that is the folks in montgomery will tell you one thing and the local game warden will tell you something entirely different. I've had it happen more than once. If you want to be on the safe side, go with the local gw unless you're ready to go to court
