Usually a full will work well, just pattern your gun with different chokes and shot to see what works in your gun.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

#1 shoots great out of my 1100 with a 28" modified.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Too many variables, u need to set up some targets and try different chokes, rounds etc...

I usually set up target at 40 yards. But will shoot up to 65 yards.

When I hunt with shotgun, i shoot 1B. It gives you the most 30 cal pellets. In a full choke too.
I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

I've never had a good pattern with a full especially with bigger buckshot. My advice is don't shoot buckshot if you don't have to

And don't overlook Improved Modified with 00. YMMV. That's exactly what I shoot. Started with a full choke but it caused the pellets to flatten a little and I lost some range

Go to Buba Roundtree Outdoors on YouTube. He's probably got some info on chokes and loads. He's a dog hunter in South Carolina and he's worse than a turkey hunter about chokes and 00 buckshot.

I've never had a good pattern with a full especially with bigger buckshot. My advice is don't shoot buckshot if you don't have to I've never got a good buckshot pattern with anything except 5mm tss. If I absolutely had to use buckshot I'd do some experimenting with it. I went on a deer drive in Miller's Ferry in 1976 and there were at least 50 shots fired with buckshot. We recovered one doe. I lost a fine buck myself that I shot 4 times inside of 40 yds. He poured blood and we tracked him to the property line but never found him. I said that was it for me with buckshot and never used it again until I tried the tss a few years back. If you have to use it, do a lot of testing and then limit the range you shoot one. Good luck!
