Well howdy y'all ....

Hey guys first time on a deer team, looking forward to it. Hope we all have a great season.

So where is everyone hunting this year ..this will be my first year not in a club. Gonna rough it on oakmulgee this year

What’s going on guys!

I’ll be hunting in Barbour and Henry counties. I’ve got 2 trips planned up in Illinois as well.

Cobiaphil here. Hope to be in the woods Sat. but we have
a big shutdown at work.
Will be hunting our club in Owassa, Al. and a little in
Florida.

I'll be hunting mostly autauga county and DeKalb county

We need to recommendations for a team name, what do y'all got. Antler Assasins is what I come up with. Antler addicts also

Any of y'all do any public land hunting, I am gonna hunt it this year. But gonna find another club for next year. However some of my best deer have been on public land

I hunted Coosa WMA some last year but never saw a buck, I may try autauga wma this year since they have expanded it

Who all will be in the woods this weekend?

I was thinking about it, but with the high temps I believe I will just go to work on Saturday. So I will make about 400.00 instead of spending money.

I'll be in a stand, weather app says wind will be out of the east

I'm going to try to go Sunday morning. Hung a stand this morning on some acorns.

Sat in my stand Sunday and had a doe and twin fawns come by at 10yards. Gave her a pass, if she is bringing twins to survival I hope she stays around.

You fellas been doing any good? I’ve only been twice with no deer. I killed a hog yesterday morning.

I hung a loc on on some good signs and acorns in a draw of a hardwood cutover. It should be a great spot, I hope to sit it tomorrow or Sunday morning

Sat this morning in the loc on. Saw 5 had one young buck feed underneath me for 20min. Great morning, hope you fellas are in the deer also.

Y’all I have got the damn flu and it is whipping my rear end. So I have been self medicating and staying home

Same here hopper35005. Hunted yesterday morning nose running and hacking then the wind switched on me got down at 9:30 and said the heck with it. Headed up to club Wednesday hope to be over this mess and hunt til Sunday.

Yeah I am not even hunting until I can control this cough and hacking . Not gonna ruin a good spot with inability to control my hacking

I going to get back in the woods Friday, I have a few stands on some good sign and have sat 3x and had shots at does on 2 of those hunts. I'm holding out on shooting does, got a few good bucks roaming around and hoping one of them come by. Should be good with this weather, hope you fellas get to feeling better. You fellas had any luck? I have been in the deer and have had a few shot opportunities at does but have held off for now on them. I have had quite a few young bucks on camera but had a old bruiser show up. I think He is a 5+yo deer and pushing 200lbs. What do y'all think? Here he is pushing around a 3yo 8point.

That is definitely an old buck!

I haven’t had any luck so far. I had a good one at 60 yards Sunday afternoon, just couldn’t get him close enough. I’ll be leaving for Illinois in 3 weeks to try to knock one down.

That is an older buck compared to the young one with him.
Need him in there in the daytime.
I missed a doe Monday morning out of a wad of 4. Saw two small
bucks also within shooting range. That was the first morning I was not coughing. Chance at a hog Sat. morning just never would get broadside then he smelled where I had hung my stand on the tree. He was that close. Man those things can smell.

Good luck to everyone. Wear those harnesses!! A guy at work going up a climber when the top piece broke and he was hanging upside down with his feet caught in the straps. They say his tendons are pretty in bad shape. Lucky his son was close by and heard him yelling for help. You never know.

Hunted Friday morning had a doe with twins come by and I let them feed around and ease off. I see them pretty regularly at one of my stands. With the full moon ,heat and wind, I just cut firewood the rest of the weekend.

I hunted Saturday morning with no luck. I took the rest of the weekend off with the heat and full moon. This has been my slowest start I can remember.

I will be taking my son to my old club for the youth hunt this weekend

It's been all does with the exception of a 3pt I seen at the choccolocco WMA special gun hunt. I don't think I have had a daytime buck picture since September, dang rut can't get here fast enough! In Gatlinburg this weekend with the family so no hunting for me. Good luck fellers maybe this cold snap will get them moving

Hunted Friday had two little doe come by, then cut and split hickory the rest of the day. My son got sick so I didn't get back Inhe woods till Sunday afternoon l, had 3 bucks feed across a field I was going to hunt as I was walking in. 2 spikes and a basket six, watched them feed across and eased up to the field to get set up. Had one more little buck com and feed for the last 30 min. Hope to get a chance to get back in the woods Wednesday. Anyone else doing any good?

I didn’t even get to go last weekend. We leave for Illinois for 5 days Friday morning. Maybe I’ll have better luck up there.

Got us some points Sat. morning. Shot a doe. Saw 10 different bucks in 3 1/2 days of hunting but all little bucks. Doe weighed 110 and was with a doe with a yearling no milk sack so I picked the right one to shoot. If I can get Photobucket to cooperate I will get it posted. Headed back to camp in the morning off the rest of the week. Good luck to every one and have a happy and thankful Thanksgiving.

Bustinbeards, that buck has been around. Look at the belly on that rascal.He is an older buck for sure. Hopefully you can catch him in the daylight when you are there!!

Well Illinois was a bust for us. The deer just weren’t moving. I did manage to see 2 really good bucks and had one in bow range but couldn’t make it happen. We may get a chance to go back in a couple weeks. I’m going up to the camp this weekend to try to at least get us a doe. Good luck guys.

Not much moving in daylight around here either. Maybe the cooler weather coming in next week will get them moving. Can't wait, I got a nice one the same weekend last year after a cold front had just came in

Family problems has limited my hunting completely, my wife’s mom and dad both are not doing really well. And I have to use the time that I would be hunting to do what my wife needs done. Sorry for the let down guys.

Rut is getting started here, hopefully I'm gonna get one soon

I have been in the woods 2x in the past two weeks, work and life has a way of making that happen. I'm going this weekend and things should calm down soon, and the big ones should get moving around here pretty soon... Hopper, prayers for your wife's folks. Congrats jellyhead mighty fine buck!

Shot a good un this morning. Won't be much points wise but he is a mature buck and one of the deer I wanted to get on this season. I'm blessed to get a chance at him.

Just entered a 9 pt, coyotes got to him overnight so hopefully I'll get a doe for some meat and extra points

Powpow65 Congrats on your buck. The coyotes are bad. Its a shame you cannot leave one overnight like we used to without them finding them. I have shot 3 of them this year.
Been hunting hard just all I can see is does and little bucks.
They starting chasing some in Owassa the past 3 or 4 days so headed back up Wednesday in time to hunt that afternoon and the rest of the week with the cooler weather coming in. Hope to get us some point.

Hate to say it but I ended up with a 155# 17inch main beam cowhorn I killed early in the season (which cost me a club fine) and did not post him cause I knew I would kill a decent buck to post and a couple of does.
I passed on a quite a few bucks hoping for the right one which never happened . Congrats on all the great deer taken. Maybe next year will be better. Still will have 10 days of Blackpowder/Archery season here in Florida (Feb. 15 - 25th).
