The MF135 diesel was one of the best tractors ever made. Agree. I have one with that little 3 cylinder Perkins (Perki-pillar) engine. Dang thing don't know when to quit. No glow-plugs to worry about, either. I thought that might make it hard to start in cold weather, but mine fires right up no matter what.

Have you tried Google?

My guess with those symptoms is water in the fuel. Drain the tank, drain the carb, out new gas in it and see what it does.
We had a 135 diesel for close to 40 years until my uncle decided to not worry about the leak in the radiator and ran it until it stopped. The MF135 diesel was one of the best tractors ever made. No way I would but a gas tractor. No water in the bowl and its literally brand new gas we bought 2 hrs earlier from the little store in heiburger.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I said before there's a number of electrical issues that can memic these symptoms. As others have said as well, its possibly the coil, distributor, battery. Thats why the gas burners are so much unpopular. They are a PIA when the grimlins get started. Especially the updraft carbs. Everything has to be airtight for the fuel & air mix. Then the electrical and timing must be kept perfect. Take the battery and test it under load. Try to find a manual or search goggle for the proper ohm range on the coil, and check it. I assume it had points, have you lifted the cap and checked the points and distributor for carbon burns and arcing? Even plug wires will break down aftr they heat up. Causing the resistance to increase and it acts just like water in the gas.

There's a couple more thing we have to check but after that I'm lost. I've never messed with an updraft carb so this is a learning experience. Same concept as a down draft air just flows the wromg way dont over think it
