Alternate for Stimpson Archery on Jan 19 and alternate for the Stimpson youth hunt on Nov 11. However, it looks like I can only accept one of those? It seems odd that they would force you to choose between the youth hunt or the adult hunt. Anyone else noticed this?

Alternate for Stimpson hunt in February. Buddy of mine drew Cedar Creek gun hunt in December.

I got 7 alternates. This is the first time I have signed up for an SOA hunt. I've got to pick just one and the rest will be declined. It looks like they will be half day hunts except for the 2 squirrel hunts(youth). Should I wait till December 7 (Thursday) hunt(first choice)when there will be colder weather, more movement? I'm not really into hunting when it is going to be in the 80's or higher. My second choice would be Cedar Creek (Dallas County) primitive weapons on 11/13.

Alternate pick for these hunts:
The two youth hunts are squirrel hunts on 10/7 & 10/21
There is a archery deer hunt on 10/26 & 11/2 Uchee Creek (Russell County).
Two primitive weapons deer hunts on 11/13 Ceder or Uchee creek in Dallas or Russell counties.
The last one is a gun deer hunt on 12/7 @ Cedar Creek Dallas County.

What would be your choice and why?

Not really lucky. I've got to choose one of them and hope to God someone drops out and I move up. I wonder how many "alternates" there are for a given hunt?

Hell at least you were chosen as an alternate, 7 at that!

I would assume 1 to keep things simple to answer your question. 2 tops but likely one

Since these are SOA hunts, where could I find maps for each to see what the terrain would be like?

Section 1,3 & 4 on the Cedar Creek SOA should be jam up! I have a buddy I hunt with a couple times a year just eat of there a couple miles and his property is set up similar with Ag fields across cedar creek to the north. Those deer will pile out of the ag fields at daylight and cross the river to bed on the south side. Not uncommon for us to see 20+ per sit on those crossings.

If anyone on here draws those units let me know and I'll show you what to look for in terms of the highest probability.

This deer crossed that creek earlier that morning before I shot him

I had several alternates to choose from including the 11/13 primative weapons hunt. Curious as to how many alternates were selected for each hunt

I was chosen as "hunter" for the feb 7 cedar creek and as an "alternate" for crow creek on Jan 11th. I really wanted the duck hunt, and they only let you choose one, so I gambled with the alternate. I got the email this afternoon saying "Your alternate selection for a Special Opportunity Hunts hunt has been updated to a hunter selection" so it paid off. The email does say further action is required but when I log into the SOH page there's nothing for me to do, it automatically changed to hunter for that hunt selection.

Well that's great news to me cause I am an alternate for the hunt you declined. So we will see...
