Not to derail but are you bassfishing guys really using 65 lb braid? For bass?
That's what I use in the salt but never would imagine using it in freshwater. I use it for stripers and cats, most of the guys in here eyes would bug out of their head if they knew I caught a 150 lb tarpon on 20 lb mono or a 43 lb blue cat on 30 lb braid with 20 lb flouro leader or pulled 3.5 lb spots from under docks with 4 lb mono. They are using 65 lb braid for a fish that they are hoping will weigh 5 lbs and fights like crap. Nate, you know I like the powerpro especially after seeing that heron fly off with your Sammy with that sufix. I won't ever forget that.

That's what I use in the salt but never would imagine using it in freshwater. In a way I agree with you... I know I said 50 or 65 pound line above, and originally that's what I'd use to go frog fishing in the matted grass with, but nowadays I actually use 40# and have never had a break off. I guarantee you I could use 20# and not break it either, but what I've found with the smaller braid is the knot is more likely to slip than the larger braid is (not break at the knot, but slip). Even with a good knot, the tag end will slip back through and "untie" the knot after some use, but the bigger line doesn't seem to do that for whatever reason. I can show you a braid knot that will never slip no matter which lb test you use. Take your line and double it and pass the doubled line through the hook eye, then go the same way back through the hook eye again with the doubled line, now just tie an improved clinch knot and when you snip the ends off, you will have 3 tag ends. That knot absolutely will not slip.
Yeah c’mon. Daniel White
