If you want to stand with Abram and Perchjerker of the opinion that African Americans should be thankful and feel lucky that slavery happened, go for it.
As I said, I just think it's a poor choice of words, at the very best. reaching? How is that reaching? Were black people the only slaves? Were the blacks the only ones who had family split up, lost all their property, had kids murdered, wives and daughters raped? We all have a reason to be pissed off because of the injustices that have been endured by those in our family tree but I choose to be thankful instead of holding on to unforgiveness. I recognize that while man meant it for evil GOD meant it for good. No, not only black people were slaves I do believe if I remember correctly Irish "slaves" (indentured servants I believe they were called) had more human rights, and weren't considered property. I'll read up on it, it has been a while Doesn't change my opinion that it's silly to say black people should be thankful for slavery. That is the point here You do realize that very few if any white people ever set foot on mainland Africa during the slave trading days, 95% of all slaves were captives from the warring tribes that were sold to white men for goods. Thankful in the text of my post was for all of their forefathers who died and for the ones who stood up for their rights as humans. Slavery exists today in Africa because black and white Africans devalue human life and if Colin and the rest of these people would look back over their shoulder at the country of their "origin" they would have a lot to be thankful for. Who started slavery? Africans. Who first worked to end slavery? White Christians. (None of that makes slavery a good thing or something to be thankful for)

Some of you on here are the same ones who complain about espn and other sports shows for inserting politics into sports while cheering the president for inserting sports into politics.
Irony is not a strong suit. The president needs to keep politics out of sports. If he's has a personal opinion of the NFL then he should keep it that way and share it with family and friends like we do. He's only added fuel to the fire making these "protests" grow in media coverage and scope. I don't agree with the protests but a president shouldn't concern himself with what athletes are doing. He said exactly what the majority of us are thinking. A spoiled bunch of millionaire sonofabitches they are. I just wish he wouldn't even had acknowledge them. Because in their pea brain they take it as they are getting their agenda out since the most powerful man in the free world spoke about it. I wish he would have said something like Piss on um because they have no bearing in my daily life.

If you're white, you're racist. You owned slaves and you don't understand the oppression of the black community. Period. Caller after caller said that in so many words. What gripes me so is I'm not a bigot. I see people, I don't see color. Went to Alabama a&m university. Have had several friends who were black that I would say were best friends. But apparently, to a majority of the black community, I'm a racist/bigot who doesn't understand oppression...because I'm white.

The protesting groups aren't doing anything to fix the (in their eyes) problem. What the hell is taking a knee going to do? Nothing.
There are two problems with the people who feel their problems are caused by either whitey, the rich, or racism...
1. The rarity of 2 person families. Raising a child is hard work and it takes a lot of time, effort, and money to do it. When one of them skips out and is not involved in the child's growth then you can expect problems.
2. The welfare state. "Free Money". This may have started out in the hopes of helping those less fortunate but the reality is that it has taken away the incentive to better your situation. If you are fed, clothed, and dry many people accept that is all they need. There is no drive to get a better job or a better house or car. They accept the scraps that they are given. Hunger is a hell of a motivator. If there was not long term assistance available then these people would have to find a job or learn a trade in order to eat. I dont mean not helping someone who is down on their luck, it just shouldnt last for years or a lifetime...
I love my country, but don't trust my government.
