I need to get the right kind of Gly to kill aggressive bamboo. What mix/ratio do ya'll recommend? About a half acre area.

As aggressive as bamboo is, I'm not sure glyphosate will kill it. I'll be interested to see what the experts on here will recommend.
Let us know what results you have.
2% solution of 41% gly will kill most stuff, but not blackberry or a few other things, don't know about bamboo. As cheap as gly is, a hot mix might be worth the experiment

From Nonnative invasive plants of southern forests: a field guide for identification and control.

Recommended control procedures:

Thoroughly wet all leaves with one of the following herbicides in water with a surfactant (September or October with multiple applications to regrowth): Arsenal AC* as a 1-percent solution (4 ounces per 3-gallon mix), a glyphosate herbicide as a 4-percent solution (1 pint per 3 gallon mix), or combination of the two chemicals

*Non target species may be killed or injured by root uptake

I've had some success with a mix of 4oz of 41% glyphosate and 4oz of Triclopyr per gal of water. But the area we were treating wasn't as big as your 1/2ac and we were able to hack each stalk prior to spraying

4 percent gly is pretty hot. Bump it up to 5 just to be sure.

Bamboo is tough stuff, tried 4-6% gly with little affect. Try 10-12% with hot surfactant

central ala,
Gly just about always has to get on top of the plant. I don't know what you're dealing with but my first thought is get it on the ground. Bushhog, dozer, mulched, whatever. When it resprouts and gets about a foot tall then start the chemical treatment. This treatment will probably take several years, get easier each time, but needs to something that kills the roots.

I thought the only way to get rid of bamboo was a D9!!

We did the D9 treatment and I am waiting for it sprout back up so I can apply the chemical. I just want to get the chemical right on the first application.

I kind of thought that when you started eating it that it would just die on its' own, since you'd figured out a use for it.

central ala,
You are in good shape then I would think. I have never done bamboo but other invasive plants that's what I've done with success. The mix I use is a 4% mixture of 41% gly. When it resprouts it should work. I coat the plant but not to runoff. Not just a mist. Works on privet and kudzu. There probably still be spot spraying for years to come but if the gly works it will be the cheapest route. There also is a better time of year to spray. I have found spring best for me.

10-4 If it was me i would use 1 cup of gly to 5 gallons of water but i do like to mix it strong, plus bamboo is HARD to kill..

I'm not a large man nor am I a gorilla so I can only eat so-much bamboo before I get a tummy ache. The stuff also grows faster than I can make furniture out of it.

8 oz to 5 gallons is not a strong mixture of gly.

I saw some today I sprayed about a month ago with 2% gly and 1% 24d mix, didn't kill it.

Skinny I sprayed some on our land at Ansley a few weeks ago using 4 oz per gallon of gly and a heavy surfactant. I needed some imazapyr, but didn't have any. I'm going to go up and look at it tomorrow, if it is turning I'll let you know so you can look.
