AU hires Mickey Dean as the new softball coach. I know everybody was on pins and needles waiting for this. He comes from James Madison, which despite the school size, has had a very competitive softball team.

I am somewhat surprised they hired a man, unless he is known to have an aversion to females, but he does have a proven track record. On the field, that is and I'm assuming he has no track record off the field since they hired him.

I'm guessing jj made that hire ? Maybe kind of a vote of confidence for jj

Boy howdy, AU is so lucky to have qualified guys like JJ running the show up there. If they are letting JJ still make hires, it means he is staying, which in turn, means that Gus is staying. Somebody check on .257 and make sure he's okay.

the folks I know that follow auburn softball are very excited about the hire. I don't like hiring from schools that small but looks like he's had some pro coaching experience.

Since JJ has been at Auburn, he has made few decisions. He is the messenger for decisions made by others.
That's one of my problems with him. He is more enthused with keeping the big boosters happy than doing what is right for Auburn and bucking the movers and shakers. He loves his position as AD, which I doubt he will be for long.

You're exactly right about he does what he is told. One thing he isn't is too dumb to know who butters his bread. That is why he has hung in there like a hair on a grilled cheese samwich.
