Yep...slid west a little over the last 2 hours, maybe? ...still pretty much in line with the forecast on the crisis map, though. Yup, its following the predicted forecast track, but keep in mind the pen they draw that line with is equal to 5 miles wide.

I'm in Columbia doing storm prep at Farley Nuke. It's getting pretty windy and raining already Its amazing how big this system is. Both of us are on the outer fringe edge of it east and west respectively three states away and can see outside right now how things are changing. He's in Columbia, AL.

Skinny, I just wanna say how much I appreciate all the updates. I never post in hurricane threads because I know nothing about predicting them, but I read it many times a day. I've always thought I get better info here than I do watching TV.
I know it's early, but do you think central and south AL is looking at timber damage similar to Ivan? I don't think timber markets have ever really recovered from that storm.
Prayers for everyone.

We will get some timber damage, mostly Georgia with this storm. This however, for us anyway, will not be like Ivan or Opal. I dont know if you recall or not, but Opal ruined the pole timber market for L.A. cause of the storm scars it put on all of the trees.

Been windy and raining most of the morning here in Dothan. Skinny I'm getting better predictions/tracks from you than the dang weather channel.

[quote=CrimsonWSM]looks like we gonna get a piece of it here in Eufaula.Hope its just some rain and wind but as wishy washy as this thing is there aint no telling.... Ya'll are gonna get more than a piece of it. The center will likely come right over or just left of ya'll. I'm still thinking Troy or Clayton will get the worst stuff inland. Ya'll should be checking your chainsaws to make sure they are working right Hoping it doesent but the more I watch it.It's got me thinking the same.

Hell, I'd rather have Skinny's predictions and graphics than what I see on TV.

May make the cotton market ease up. 800,000 bales ruined by Harvey. Now south GA crop may get nailed. Hate it for those guys.

I'm not a wather man, but I do pay very careful almost neurotic attention to these storms. All I heard about from the time I was a baby was how bad Camille was (my grandparents rode it out in a john-boat in Gulfport as there house came down around them). Then we went through Frederick and I was there as a little kid. And then all the storms after that, Opal, Ivan, Katrina, etc... So I pay careful attention to them.

If this thing don't move over land and weaken then it's gonna get ugly here in east Alabama I'm afraid.

Not good on east AL crop either. Anyone who has corn standing at dark tomorrow probly won't come Tuesday. And it's hell combining down corn. Cotton only 20-30% open with leaves on it can be ok. Cotton much more open much less defoliated and ready down south is toast.

New NHC update:
120 mph sustained winds, Category 3 storm
Movement to the north at 12 mph, so it's speeding up.

Yesterday morning, between Lumpkin, Ga. and Cuthbert, Ga., it was 58 degrees with a light northeast wind. Saw one deer at 7:30AM. Doe. Talked to my wife last night and she wanted to know when I was coming home to Slocomb, Al. Told her I was staying at the camp and she was on her own. Hmmm, that didn't seem to go over very well!! This morning it's 68 degrees and breezy. Still NE but gusts up to about 20. Packing up and headed home to batten down the hatches. Y'all stay safe. Your roads gonna be nasty by the time this is over, if you need something let me know, I'm sure my taco can get to ya. Appreciate that! Our road has handled rain better the last few years so we may be alright. I got the chainsaw ready to go just in case a tree gets stupid and falls across it.
