Just learned that there was only a handful of birds (10-20)seen over the weekend on the field we're planning on shooting Saturday in Butler County.
What is everyone else seeing?
Maybe Harvey held them up?
The cool snap this week shouldn't help either, it will send the ones we got off.

We've got the most I've seen in years, here in Northeast AL. Let us know what happens when the front moves through tomorrow. I figure it's gonna push them south.

If I could have shot any day over the past month, a limit probably would have come pretty easy.
I'm worried sick about what this front might do.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

I had around 100 birds on my power line that runs across my 1/2 acre millet patch about two weeks ago. They started picking corn near me and this morning I only saw about 35. My numbers have trended down big time the past week.
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

I'm worried sick about what this front might do. Me too. We had a high pressure move over a couple years ago, it only dropped the temps 5-10 degrees, and it sure made the birds we had move on. Luckily it was about a week before the shoot and new birds had moved in. The fact that this front is only 2 days prior to the opener is the worrying part.

Satisfaction of hunting has become based on how many you can kill and not just enjoying the day with family and buddies. I've done enough this year for friends and family to come hang out and hopefully shoot some and have a good time. Good luck! I agree John. I obviously would like to shoot a few, but the work I've done to this point is more for friends and family. I just want the birds to cooperate for them. We'll have a good time regardless, but hearing shotguns roar all afternoon sure would be music to my ears.

Seeing fewer this year than any other year I can remember.
Beer will still be cold and the food/friends will be a good time.

I was seeing a lot more birds a couple of weeks ago. I attributed seeing less birds due to people starting to bait fields. Yesterday, I sat at the field for 40 minutes and counted 46 birds pitch down. This is a small 2-3 acre field for only about 4-5 of us. I wonder, if you see 46, what does that translate into total birds. 200 maybe? Sure there's a dove guru formula for figuring total number of birds visiting a field. I've always wondered that too
We will burn that bridge when we get there

That along with crops being harvested, weeds in cutovers seeding out, etc. etc. I've always hear to double the number that you see, but who knows how you figure that accurately.

Heh heh heh. Cold front coming going to push them into FL.
I saw good numbers of birds in FL last weekend.
