Mr. Danny, you need to come show them boys around here with their so called hog dogs how it really works. That dog in that first pic look cool as heck with those eyes. I bet them dogs would have a ball over here chasin these hogs in these big wide open fields. Also those catch dogs look like some tanks.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

I would love to make a road trip one day!
Right now, I have a couple of big properties that are keeping me pretty busy. I should be up on one of them this morning. They sent me some pretty neat pics yesterday of hogs and then me and the dogs the next day and were tickled with the results so far. They were wanting me to come & hit some feeding spots today. But, deer season is gonna sneak up on me if I am not careful. So, I am going to do some work on my place today. Gonna head down to Atmore in the morning to make a hunt with some real good guys out of FL!! Then, I will go hit the ones they have that are hitting their camera baits on Monday.
I have had some really terrible luck with dogs this Summer.......
Sally Sue and Joleen, who have been my go-to dogs and companions the past few years, have both met their match with big boars this Summer. Hunting 'cleanup' on properties that trap and shoot hogs hard is a little different game. The old smart boars that avoid traps and are able to outsmart the shooters are mostly what is left. And, even though they are still smart, elusive and run like Hell......they lose the aspect of being able to throw the dogs off on sows/pigs/shoots. So, you are able to Bay & Catch (or attempt to catch) a higher percentage of them. And, they usually ain't real happy about it!!
Combine that with the fact that I am having to use 2 young catch dogs, and it has been kinda rough on em! Heck, I had to bring Ol Momma Dawg out on the big long-toothed boar in the pics. That was the 4th time I had went after him and bay him up. She hung tight!!! But, pretty much solidified her Retirement.
But, they are bred for it and born to do it. And, they LOVE it!!! They know exactly what is up when the lights click on before daylighton the weekends.....and are bouncing off the kennel doors wanting to go!!

I see my buddy is still looking good on the Ranger. Ya'll getting some good size hogs.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
