I need scope recommendations for a Bergarra B-14 HMR in 6.5cm.

I think I want FFP and a Mil type reticle instead of moa or bullet drop. My budget is around $1k for the scope. I've got a few I think I'd be happy with, but not having any experience with these type scopes, I'm not sure.

I've never done any precision/long range shooting, so I'm not really sure what I want/need.

For that price, Burris XTRii 4-20 or 5-25.

Not sure since you're wanting ffp. But I think they cost more. I'd look at night force though. Very proven. I don't know about vortex. Prolly wouldn't try them myself. But people like them. Leupold also.

Vortex viper would be a great one too. Shop around and you could buy one with money to spare. http://www.eurooptic.com/vortex-viper-pst-6-24x50-ffp-rifle-scope-ebr-1-moa-pst-624f1-a.aspx

That's an example of one but they do have other reticle options.

On a side note, that rifle is on my short list to buy, so if you decide it's not for you, send me a pm. grin

I think the Nightforce would be great but will cost you near twice your budget.

Here's a couple you may want to consider.
https://swfa.com/catalog/product/view/id/113813/

https://swfa.com/swfa-ss-hd-5-20x50-tactical-30mm-riflescope-1.html

https://swfa.com/bushnell-3-12x44-elite-long-range-hunter-30mm-rifle-scope.html

https://swfa.com/bushnell-4-5-18x44-elite-long-range-hunter-30mm-rifle-scope.html

You may find better prices.I just pulled up the first I found to link for you to look at. You may not be familiar with those scopes but do some research and they are well respected as good precise dialing scopes that will take a lot of cranking.

I would lean toward the Bushnell because of the zero stop and you can get it illuminated as well if you want. No worries, these are made in the same plant as the Nightforce and are not at all a blister pack Bushnell.

If you decide on SWFA,you can usually save a couple hundred during their Black friday sale in their SS scopes. These are well respected long range dialing scopes as well.

Yes the FFP scopes cost more, but if you plan to use the reticle for ranging and figuring hold over, it's a good idea to get an FFP. You don't have to worry if you are on the right power setting for the reticle to be accurate.

Vortex has a Viper PST in 6-24x50 with an EBR-1 mil reticle that you can get into for less than your budget. I have two of them. If your worried about the quality, don't. They are excellent and you get a lot of scope for the money that would cost 2-3x more from other brands. I am constantly dialing up and down and have never had a problem with tracking or returning to zero...I'll probaly be labeled as a "vortex fanboy" but oh well. The PST is a great scope and doesn't break the bank. If being happy with a purchase makes me a fanboy, then so be it...

They also build the same scope that adjusts in MOA so make sure you get the one that adjusts in mils if you go that route

Get a Vortex Viper PST of your choice and never look back. I really dont know what they cost, but the Sightron upper models are very well respected for precise dialing, good glass, and toughness in my circles too.

FWIW, the most serious, money is truly no object, rifle owner/hunter/long range shooter I know will tell you that he will never spend the money to put a Nightforce on another one of his custom rifles. He says there is simply no reason so long as Vortex Razors and Viper PST's are available. His custom builder, range owner, and good friend of mine says exactly the same. Says a whole lot to me.

Cameraland NY has that Vortex for $769 if that's the one you want.

Personally,I would order my top 3 choices and send the 2 back I didn't like after testing.

Good choice. I currently have mine on a 20 MOA EGW rail with Leupold QRW rings

You can't go wrong with a Vortex. I'm very pleased with my Gen 1.

How many MOA is in the travel of that vortex?

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

It's listed as 20 MRAD max

I've got the Burris XTR 5-25. It's a beast of a scope. It's heavy though and requires high dollar rings since it's a 33mm tube. For the money though it's hard to beat. I compared it to several models of Nightforce and preferred the Burris. Your mileage may vary though

Mines also on a 6.5 creedmoor and I have enough elevation to get way past 1000 yards if I wanted.

I like that trigger.

If you compared it to the vortex viper gen 2, what did you like about the Burris better?
