on the banks of Smith lake. looked like a young doe maybe 80lbs. she was half eaten by buzzards but i couldn't make out any gunshot or broken ribs that where exposed. anything in paticular you should look for when you find a dead deer? Any diseases that can be seen with the eye? just wondering if she was poached or if some deer disease is in bankhead.

How close was she to water? There is one where they can't drink and die next to the water. I found one years ago next to a stream. I think it's BLUE TONGUE? One of the guys will chime in.

EHD is what typically causes deer to seek water.
Contact the local game warden and/or biologist to talk with them, and maybe come get it.
EHD is hitting hard right now in eastern Kentucky and eastern Tennessee. Midwest wildlife officials are bracing for outbreaks there, too.

EHD is hitting Alabama right NOW. The dead/dying deer are usually found near any water as they run a high temp in last phases. GWs will NOT come get a dead deer in a lake, nor will a biologist.

Sounds like lead poisoning to me.
