I want to change the sights on my 1911, but I'm having a hard time deciding on what will actually fit or not.
SO, is the dovetail size the same on all 1911s or just the same on all Sig Sauer 1911s??

Sig 1911 dovetails have a Novak cut. Doesn't necessarily have to be Novak brand. Hope that was helpful.
*Colt Gov't, Novak, Bomar, & LPA/TRT are the 4 most common dovetail cuts for 1911's

It does, thanks.
It seems that Kimbers are the odd ball for sights.

It seems that Kimbers are the odd ball for sights. Yes, they are. They use a Novak sized front, and a Heinie style on the rear.

The trijicons that are currently on the gun have a "09" on them. Is there a way that I can find just a front sight?
Is the "09" a size?

Is the "09" a size? yeah Sig uses "size" markings on their sights...If you aren't wanting to go back with night sights, you can order a front sight from Dawson Precision in practically any height you want. They may even custom make a night sight but you'd have to call them for that info.
