*All you new folks, this is the way it is on the forums, so pay attention. This might help you get through the first day on the forum, after that you’re on your own.
First off there are 2 things that you MUST have to be a Member of this site. #1 is Thick Skin.. People here dont sugar coat anything, and WILL tell you what they think. If your easily offended this aint the place for you, Please exit now. #2 is a TRUE love of the Outdoors. We aint talking about "Tree Huggin" Rock Worshiping Hippie types either.
*Before you roll up in here posting like a Tornado through a trailer park, take a little time to get a feel for the place.
*Remember, meanings expressed in the written phrase and spoken phrase are often completely different
*We aren’t here to justify your feelings and give you self worth
*You may think that because folks cant see you that they dont know who you are. Remember You are not anonymous on the internet! Think about what you post before you go bragging about shooting deer at night over corn from the highway.
If ya got thin skin and sensitivity you’ll find most post will probably be like wearing a thong in a blizzard, they ain’t gonna do nuthin but irritate yer ass.
We don’t care about affiliations; we take in just about everybody, we even took in DarnYankee and BigJack. We don’t care what you believe as long as you Love the Lord and Vote Republican.
*If you are going to be traveling around the state, post it up and meet up face to face with these folks. You’ll be glad you did
*Before you post something, please make sure somebody ain’t beat you to it
Please check with Snopes before you post up about Bill Gates giving away money.
Learn how to use the controls. If you perform the dreaded triple post, delete two of ‘em. Click on the Edit button and put a check mark in the delete box. You can also edit what you type the same way.
*We have a forum for just about everthing, find the one that applies and check it out. The General Forum is where all the BS is slung. All them gear and stuff forums are good spots for that kinda talk. If you are looking for land, then you might be best off in the land and lease forum. If you are trying to sell something, put it in the classifieds.
*We realize that we got a couple of them folks from the DCNR. Sometimes they make good decisions, sometimes they don’t. It ain’t perfect but at least it ain’t Massachusetts or some other god forsaken place. That don’t keep them free from open debate. We respect the folks in the Green Uniform but that don’t give ‘em a free pass. Some stuff might fly by the general public, but don’t crap down our back and call it a mudslide. Y’all can take your lumps here and give ‘em too but it ain’t a CAB meeting.
*The main reason we have a "season" is so we'll know when to quit and return to work, family and bills. Otherwise 365 day 2 deer a day, year 'round season would be terrible for the economy and good for divorce and bankruptcy lawyers. The animals we hunt know when the season starts and the season is over. It’s just like when the in-laws come to your house for a visit. You know when it’s safe to come out and when to go ‘nocturnal’.
Forget about hunting in Febuary!.. it aint gonna happen
We have ALL heard about "Big Cats", using Clorox on a stump, and the "Butler County Swamp Booger". if you start a post about them, be prepared.
The folks on here are some of the best people you will ever meet. they lend a hand when they can, or a knee when they can't. Take the opportunity to meet as many as you can.
We got folks from all walks of life here, if you have a question, just ask, someone probaly knows something about it. If you post and don’t get an answer, well that probably means nobody has one. Deal with it.
if this all sounds like something you can live with, the only other thing we have to say is.....
Welcome to the ALdeer Family!!!
I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Some men are born brothers, Others earn it... JD

Everything looks good except the February hunting part but we'll leave that discussion alone until February 1st.

Being a new member my observation is that this a great resource for Alabama hunters. I am however dissapointed to learn that the sensitivity training is being discontinued.

Just wanted to introduce myself here. I have been lurking here for a while and finally registered. I am on a few other gun related and duck hunting boards as well, but dont' post much. I live in AL, but have been working over seas for several years. Looking forward to coming home on leave in a couple more weeks to catch the rut. I always try to come home in January to get my hunting fix. In the mean time, I hunt vicariously through the posts and pictures here. There seem to be some knowledgeable hunters here and though I have been hunting for a long time, I can always learn something new. Welcome aboard!!!

Well the first man comes along that can read Latin is welcome to rob us, far as I'm concerned. I'd like a chance t' shoot at a educated man once in my life.

i ain't new here, but it has been several years since i was active. couldn't remember my ID; i think it might have been fish280 or fish4570; no clue on password; so i registered as a new member. anyhow, i am glad to be back. i had quit participating because health issues kept me from hunting. all over that, and i've been doing some deer hunting the past two seasons, particularly last season when my youngest son and his father-in-law allowed me the kindness of hunting their place in blount county. we moved to crenshaw county (Lapine) this past week and are settling in.

New to this forum. Really looking forward to learning some things from seasoned hunters. A little background - I have recently moved to Huntsville AL for work. I used to live in Florence AL and was in a private hunting club in southern TN with my dad and several friends - awesome club. Now that I am out Huntsville way it looks like to closest place for me to hunt is going to be Skyline WMA. I have actually never hunted on WMA as I have had the privilege of hunting in a private club my whole life. Any tips, recommendations for hunting in Madison, Jackson Co would be appreciated. Tips for a first timer on WMA, specifically Skyline would be awesome. Thanks!

I see banner ads on the top of the page. How do you get information about sponsorship? Alabama Outdoor News magazine was s sponsor a number of years ago and we are interested in taking another look at sponsor opportunities.
Would someone please direct me to the correct person to discuss?
Thank you You need to send Skinny PM.

Good Morning all,
Currently deployed with orders to Maxwell. Joined up here to start sending out feelers on folks I can meet up with. My wife was born and raised in Prattville but none of her family members are hunters. Hope to meet up with some of you next Fall.

New member here. Looks like a good site. I like to build stuff, grow stuff, catch stuff and shoot stuff. I think I'll fit right in. I'm sure glad Longshot was mistaken about that no hunting in February thing. I might as well throw in a Roll Tide while I'm at it.

Howdoo all you Alabama folk ,
Figured I'd sign on since this looks to be a good forum -unlike the local stuff here --peniscola fishing forum -etc. say anything they don't like and they rid themselves of you. I haven't been thrown off there but twice -and have again signed on under a new name. Anyway hello I'm Mike just a good'ole boy who loves hunting , fishing -shooting etc. -look forward to joining in with you guys. OK then -Mike

First post here...I've been lurking for several months and have gotten much enjoyment from some of the threads, especially the 575 dozen arras for sale.
I just got into hunting this past season and really enjoy it. Got a deer my first time out, so I was hooked. Lots of good information on this site.

I don't mean to put words in Longshots mouth, but maybe he means "as long as you love the Lord OR don't take offense if others do". I don't think he means that everyone has to be a church member. Maybe his "thick skin" advice comes into play here?

Mossy I wrote that welcome letter about 12 years ago while drinking a few beers and waiting for a typhoon to pass over Guam. Most of it was tongue in cheek and poking fun at ourselves.

New member, long time lurker.
I put sugar in my cornbread so go ahead and throw me right back out - lol. I also put habanero or jalapeno in there.
Grew up all over the place, mostly Caribbean islands. Lots of family from Alabama, been in this state over two decades.
I've hunted everything from lizards to bears and I like hogs. Being a mature hunter - it's more challenging to go into the yucky places they live and drag them out these days but as long as I can, I will.
Glad to be here.

Hello Aldeer family. I was a member years ago but forgot my login and password. Tough to remember some things at 62 . Re-registered and now I'm back. I love to deer hunt but only been doing it for about 8 years so I have a lot to learn and have learned a lot from everyone on here. Hope to bring something to the table if I can. I live in FL for now and hunt in Henry county with a friend who owns property there. Steve

Hey guys, NutterBuster here. Been lurking since I was in college, just now jumping in. I've been hunting, camping, and fishing in lower Alabama my whole life. Just bought a waterfront home up in Stockton last year to be closer to the hunting and fishing. One or two of ya might have run into me on the hunting beast forum or the saddle hunter forum. I also recently started the Alabama Saddle Hunters facebook group, and have a little youtube channel I play with sometimes. Glad to be on board!

Hello all - I'm new here and I wanted to introduce myself. My moniker is the Tuscaloosa Kid and I have lived in Cullman county since 1972. I use to hunt deer and squirrel as a teen, and into my early 20's and then took a long hiatus. My son has shown an interest in hunting and I would like to encourage anything to get him off the phone ans away from video games.
Glad to be here and looking forward to talking to folks and learning as much as I can.
