Never seen em rented anywhere. I have bought, and used a couple of the cheaper ones. Moultries was the worst one, and they didnt last or leaked from the start. Bought a Fimco and its been great. http://www.agrisupply.com/boomless-atv-sprayer/p/53949/

Northstar at northern tool boomless broadcast sprayer. I bought the 26 gallon, which is too big for a 350 cc atv. I really like it. Was around $200. Make sure you get one with 2 gpm or more pump. I've been using one of these about 10 years. I think mine has a 4 gpm pump, but the current model is a 5.5. It's been a good piece of equipment. I'm curious as to why you think it's too big? I'm using mine on a 250 ATV and never once thought it was too big. It fits the rear rack perfectly. I will say that I can't apply herbicide with as much precision as I could with a boom, but it's much faster and less trouble than a boom.

Thanks for the heads up on the northern tools one. I'm ordering one tonight. How many gallons does it take to spray an ac with glysophate? I'm gonna say 20, based off experience with boomless. Can vary

Thanks for the heads up on the northern tools one. I'm ordering one tonight. How many gallons does it take to spray an ac with glysophate? I use the 25 gallon tank to cover one acre when spraying chufas, but I half lap it to try to get better consistency. That is, I run the ATV along the outer band from the previous trip and throw the spray back to the middle of that previous trip. It still isn't as consistent as a boom, but comes close. Mine is supposed to cover 30' and it comes close to that. For burning down deer plots with gly I just make a single trip. It often leaves a 6" wide strip in the middle that doesn't die, but it's not a big deal; the disc will cover it when I come back. I can cover 2 acres by doing it this way and use 3 quarts of gly. This is pretty hot and kills it quickly. I stretched a tank yesterday to cover 2.5 acres because it was a long ride back to the water. I just drove a little faster to cover the extra ground.

let me ask another question... can you use these on like a polaris? or does it have to be a 4 wheeler.. also what i am seeing as boomless still has three sprayers that spray from the back of the machine.. i am wanting to spray a pasture for horses that have some weeds in them that need to be gone... one is crotalier and my wife says it can kill a horse...( i would put it in there if t was up to me and save me the trouble, but she says no.) I have a tractor supply atv boomless set up on my honda pioneer. I just had to modify the brackets that hold the boom so they would bolt to the back instead of clamp to the bottom of the tank, but it would have been easy to make it work as is.

I bought a 15 gallon one at the local CO-OP back in 1999 and a 10' boom that folds up. I spray 15 GPA on my foodplots and use 60oz of gly.
I put shutoffs, so I could shutoff either side of by boom. I've also used the stops to cutoff individual nozzles, while spraying over pines.

It's hard to tell you how rich of a mixture to make because it's dependent on factors like how coarse or fine your spray is and how fast you drive.
I can tell you that a 1% mixture of gly will kill most weeds if you condition the water with ammonium sulfate so that you're getting the most out of the gly. I have calibrated our sprayer at camp to spraye about 12-13 gallons per acre with 1% gly and we get a good kill. I'm using a boom sprayer with size .02 nozzles so I'm spraying and fairly fine mist which yields really good coverage.
