I need to read the rules three of four times. there is bound to be controversy.
With all those subsections how does the hunger get to his drawn area? By walking or 4wheeler? Times of allowed through travel? Shot deer runs into other area? Sign in or out? Is there a GW onsite?
I am not shooting it down. Most likely I'll register for the drawing. Especially tell son about those opportunities for young men to learn.

Long time lurker, first post disclaimer. I'm really excited for this news. I'm not from a hunting background and have been teaching myself (with aldeer' s help) to hunt with limited success. I chalk a lot of my failure to a lack of experience and limited opportunities on public land. I am hoping these soa's will give me a shot to shoot my first deer!!! Way to go ALDCNR.

One of the best things I've seen DCNR do. Two to them! X1000 I've always been envious that Mississippi had draw hunts. I put in for several hunts in the delta last year and didn't get drawn. I think it'll be a great opportunity for Alabama public land hunters, I'm excited.

My only criticism is the lack of camping opportunity available. I don't know about any of the others but the Russell County property is going to require a drive to Phenix City or Opelika to find lodging. Do that for 3-4 days and nights and you've spent a good chunk of change in gas and lodging. Spending that much defeats the purpose of hunting public land.

I got the email, also. I'm interested. I think it's a neat idea by the dcnr. I will be interested to see how the regulations are enforced

Sykes basically said that in the article.

Where's the one in Russell Co located? I see the map of the property but can't tell where it's located in the county.

Where's the one in Russell Co located? I see the map of the property but can't tell where it's located in the county. The article said it was a 4500 acre tract. I know there was a tract for sale between Hurtsboro and Seale that had a $16 million asking price. I'm guessing that's it or partially related to that tract. There aren't many 4500 acre tracts out there.
