Yep...cheapest of the cheap shots. What did he take....4 steps after Cutler had released the ball only to leave his feet in a attempt to drive his helmet into Cutler's jaw? That's definitely the Nick Fairley we've all come to know.

Ohhhh, who was the bama player a few weeks ago that took the cheap shot in the endzone? I like fairley more because of the grief he causes the crimson glass wearers. If you don't want him to break your qb .....block him. It has nothing to do with people not blocking him or what team someone pulls for. It is about the way he intentionally puts his full weight on the quarterback when he is driving him into the ground. Why not just wrap up the quarterback and tackle the qb the way the other 99% of good lineman do? Your argument is ridiculous.

I can't pull the link up but if he hit him that late then its a cheap shot. Tc, its legal to tackle that way and football is a physical contact sport. If you don't like it there is always figure skating. You bammers are gonna be worried about AU players until they are drawing SS.

Let's see Fairley was in the act of shedding a blocker, had his hands on Cutler, Fairley continues playing football, Cutler throws the ball while Fairley is in the process of tackling Cutler and takes him to the ground. Sounds like football to me. Damn, what am I thinking, you are supposed to stop playing football when the QB wants you instead of when the whistle blows to stop the play. Yep, Cutler is an overpaid WUSS. Good thing Cutler chose Professional touchy feely sports and didn't take up boxing or the UFC where you are supposed to protect yourself at all times until the referee stops the action.

The Lions play the Panthers this Sunday. Maybe Fairley can do that to Cam 3 or 4 times and we'll see the inner struggle with the Auburn fans' conscience.

No struggle here. I don't cry like a girl when I watch football players do what they do. If he can put that kind of hit on cam then so be it.

Fairly never got a shot at Newton at Aubrun.
You don't think he'd pile-drive his ass in Charlotte if he gets the opportunity? Think he'd tell Suh "Hey, that's my boy ... don't hit him too hard."
They play to win. Newton had an MRI late last week and is dinged up. If they think they can put him out and have a shot at winning, that's what they do in the NFL.
Newton knows that, too.

Hell, they don't need to knock Newton out to win the game. They continue to loose despite Cam playing well.

Thats the one I was referring too. All is clean until Cutler releases the ball and Fairley continues and does his trademark "grab 'em behind the knees" and pulls him up and plants his helmet in the QB's shoulder as they are going to the ground. Im not sure how football is taught in Shelby county, that my friend is called a form tackle and is the first thing taught to a football player in south Alabama. He should have let the QB go and had oppurtunity to, being critical of this if fair, that tackle, as anyone who has ever played football knows, is a form tackle and considered to be the standard.

Yeah, but we're talking about the nfl. I saw a foul called on a db the other day cause he hit a receiver while he was in the air catching the ball. Said he was defenseless...he shouldn't have jumped in my opinion. Didn't use his head, tackled him with his shoulder. Couldn't figure it out...was told in hs 1)intercept ball 2)knock it down 3)punish the receiver. Follow the benjamins, the nfl has gotten too pricey and they can't afford to play ball like it used to be.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.
