Honda. There really isn't another choice in four wheelers. Tell me why.... and I'm serious too. Convince me that I need to buy a Honda and not a Yamaha.

I was torn between a Honda (originally what I was leaning toward) and the Yamaha Grizzly 700 that I ended up buying. At the time, I was looking at 2015 models in the Grizzly 700 the Honda Rincon 680. I briefly looked at Honda Rubicon and Rancher models as well, but they didn't seem to be what I was looking for.
Ultimately, for me, it came down to the fact that the specs on the Grizzly were better than the comparable Honda flagship model. Also, the Honda was a new redesign/update, whereas the 2015 Grizzly was the final year of the model and clearly the most refined.
Here are some of the comparisons from when I compared for my purchase: the Grizzly had 686cc vs 675cc, better ground clearance (10.8" vs 9.2"), slightly smaller dimensions, slightly lighter weight, better front suspension travel (7.6" vs 6.9"), better rear suspension travel (9.2" vs 8.0"), larger fuel capacity (5.3 vs 4.4 gals), and slightly tighter turning radius. The Grizzly also had engine braking and diff lock. But the Honda transmission had the advantage over the belt-driven Grizzly.
Obviously, the current models have probably changed specs a bit and could've completely swapped places, but these were a lot of the reasons I chose the Yamaha over the Honda. I wasn't going to drop that kinda money just based off of "Honda/Yamaha bc duh" type comments without any real data or info to backup WHY either one was a good choice. Good luck

Good luck I will only own a Honda ATV and do own 2 of them. With that said both of them have the Automatic transmission- Rincon and Rubicon models. I have had issues with both transmissions and the Rubicon is in the shop right now with a Shifting issue. The Honda shop has had the Rubicon 2 weeks and can't figure out what is Causing the problem. The next ATV I get will be a Honda but it will be the Honda Foreman with manual transmission if they still offer it when the time comes to get a new ATV. I have been pretty unhappy with the reliability and aggravation of the Honda automatic transmission. Just my 2 cents!

I've only had two 4-wheelers in my life. The first was a 1987 Suzuki LT125(2wd) that I got brand new and used until about 2002 when it was just put up. My second one is a 1999 Suzuki 250 Quadrunner(4wd) that I bought new and have been using it ever since. I haven't had any major issues with either one. With the experience that I've had with these two units, I'd be hard pressed not to buy another Suzuki.
Most folks that are brand bias have a history with that brand.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've had 2 hondas that we're bullet proof. I just got a used Polaris sportsman 500ho (only had 87 hrs and 311 miles) for a great deal a couple of months ago and it's everything I expected to this point. Very pleased with it and must say I love the independent rear suspension much better over the straight acle

I have never had issues with my Honda 4 wheelers. One I have now is 1995 4 x 4 fourtrax. Used but not abused and other than changing the oil every couple of years and a new battery / tires a few years ago, the maintenance has been non-existent. It is damn near indestructible. My dad never had any issues with the four wheelers / three wheelers we had growing up. Even after my brother fell off the 3 wheeler and it bounced down the hill.
When I went to a UTV last year, I wanted a Honda 1000, but they were out of my price range. Bought a Polaris and I'm very happy with it, but may eventually change to a Honda.
Honda small engines have earned their stellar reputation. I have two lawnmowers, one is about 18 years old the other is over 30 years old. 30 year old model still runs but needs to have the carb cleaned, but I don't use it much any more. Other model purrs like a kitten and will start with one pull every time.
If your happy with your Yamaha, stick with it. But Honda's their reputation and my experience with them says there is no other choice.

I'm sure the Yamaha is fine but if you want to max out dependability and resale value then look no further than Honda. Honda has owned the market for 30 years for a reason.

I've owned every make out there and the most reliable 4-wheelers have been Honda by a long shot then Yamaha and then Polaris. I have not owned any of the electric shift Honda 4-wheelers because I heard they had some problems early on.
I like to keep everything manual and when I am standing at the dealer looking at it... I think about what is going to break on them. I don't get sold on bells and whistles. When I see bells and whistles I see something that is going to tear up.
Have not had much trouble out of any of the UTVs that would not be expected. Example would be the Polaris is belt drive so you have to understand it might need a belt change. That doesn't mean it is broke or a bad machine. That's just how that works. It is called Maintenance. Have owned Honda, Polaris and Yamaha UTVs and they have been pretty good machines within expected maintenance.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I recommend you look at Lake Hill Motors in MS and Southern Powersports in Chattanooga. Lowest prices you'll find on Honda ATVs which would be my 1st pick. I might look at a Yamaha (carried by Lake Hill) but it'd have to be a smoking deal. I too like simple and want things/stuff that is less prone to breaking so a foot shift manual transmission is a plus to me.
If you can wait a month or two both stores will have the best prices of the season.
I'd avoid buying used as IMO the better condition used ones come at too hefty a price. Far too many individuals price them too high and for a couple extra hundred bucks, I'd prefer new with a warranty.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

If we are talking new ATV's then consider something besides Honda for the money. I sold my Honda Rubicon and bought a new Kawasaki Brute Force 750i and love it.
I'm a Honda guy but they are in the stone age when it comes to new ATV's. Yes the dominated the industry for over 2 decades and make nice wheelers but for the money you pay a lot for less. And they ain't as reliable as they used to be.
I bought my BF last October and once I sold my Rubicon I wanted another Honda but I wanted at least a 700, power steering, locking from diff, low range, push button 4WD independent suspension and good brakes. Guess what - Honda don't make that.
After months looking at ATV's, taking to dealers and researching I decided on the Kawasaki. Its AWESOME! I let anyone drive it if they ask and they absolutely love it. Its what I call a 500cc sized ATV 750cc v-twin! My lease is in Jackson Co and you need a good wheeler to climb the mountain thats not a tank. It has more power than I need, goes anywhere, tows anything, uses less gas than my Rubicon and feels like you are driving a small ATV. It's light and nimble. I was looking at the Yamaha Grizzly and on paper it looked great but it was huge and drove like a tank. That's my .02
