Seeing if anybody here has a contact to an excavating contractor? Needs to have a machine to dig +20' deep for a sewer repair in a road.. Oh, and its under the power, water and communication lines for the neighborhood

Maybe he will chime in shortly.. I've dug them down to 17' deep but this project is a little out of my league as far as the digging and hauling goes

I don't. Maybe DallasCounty will chime in.

Out of curiosity; how do you manage trench safety in a roadway excavation that deep?

Deep holes have always made me nervous.

Fuzzy you stair step the walls of the ditch. Safe way to do it is say the hole is 20' to the bottom of the ditch times that by 1.5 and you'll get the safe distance you should lay your banks back. Stair step it all the way down bout 2ft wide steps no more tha 4t tall. I prefer 2ft so one can walk out the ditch safely 4ft is max osha allows anything more it will cave off. At least thats how i was taught out here on the pipeline.

I've fixed a bunch of them this way but out of the question on this one. Dozen or so houses on this street and once you start digging, there is no access in or out.

Working in gated neighborhoods can be a pain in the ass. No contractors in before 8 and you've got to be out by 5.. And no weekends (I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule)

In this case, needing somebody with there own equipment and trucks... Being at the mercy of hired truck drivers for example can screw you when your on a time crunch and its my ass getting chewed, not theres.
