The two most important parts of a good drop down hog gate are width and no threshold to step on or over.
Our gates are 8 ft wide and have a buried threshold.

Look at the Jager Pro trapping equipment online. Barry is right on the buried threshold. I never seem to catch any of the bigger older hogs.
