How much longer will they actually be growing here in Bama? Starting to see some real nice bucks with the thermals.
I know they will be in velvet for a few more weeks. But, how much of that is still growing season and how much is simply the blood being cut off and the antlers drying out?

Usually shed first couple weeks of october in central alabama but I usually see growth slow way down in the month of september. I'm with you. I'm seeing bucks now that are what they are going to be point wise. Got pictures of 5 different bucks this week with rounded points. May get more mass, tines get longer, and maybe more spread but the number of points should stay the same on what I've seen.

Usually by Oct 1st. Always see some, usually smaller, with velvet in early bow season. I will say I've seen some of the biggest bucks I remember seeing this early already this summer. Maybe it's all the rain. Just hope I can see them in a few months.

I think they've done all they're gonna do about a month before shedding .

Mine in tn will be done in two weeks. They will start shedding around September 15. Sometimes we have a late one that will carry velvet into bow season. Pretty rare though.

Usually right before season here in tn. I could have shot a small six point opening day of TN bow season last year. Never seen one in velvet during season where I hunt in AL.

Just left from hog hunting. Saw like 30 racked bucks. Looks like they have a month of growing left Were they in a pen? Haha no. I was on a plantation near the bullock/Russell county line. Saw the, riding around looking for hogs and at feeders.

We saw lots of bucks this weekend as well. Had one real nice looking 10 pt at about 5 yards. They just don't understand we can see them with the thermals. He just stood there in some brush thinking he was hid.
Saw one bachelor group of 7 bedded in a small field. All nice racks but no real monsters.
