Bunch of good stuff fellows. So we are members of a larger club and going into this we agreed to share work and costs for the supplemental stuff. I will say that these guys aren't the most experienced hunters, at least to the extent I've had to gut their deer for them too. It doesn't bother me at all to help people, matter of fact I enjoy it, especially when I feel like I'm teaching someone something. I've only been hunting 12 years myself and wasn't raised hunting, didn't start till I got in the Army so I'm still rounding out things like this. Nothing wrong with helping folks at all but there is something wrong with laziness. I remember my first and only demo on how to skin/quarter a deer and as far as all the info youre supplying them on deer movement I'd say you did your share to educate them on how to do it. Let them fend for themselves and they'll either quit or take up the mantle of education and go through the trail and errors of hunting
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

So I've been in my club now for 3 years with a co-worker. The past 2 years two buddies have also joined basically making a group of 4 of us that can share information. To this day I've been the only one putting out salt, protein and cameras each summer. Everyone one of us is busy which is the excuse I always get but at what point do I stop the guide service? Good communication makes for good friends. Did you ask up front if everyone wanted to put out minerals and cameras? Did they commit to do their part? If so, then hold them accountable. If not, then there is really nothing to complain about.

I've never understood why folks do so much talking and hanging out at a hunting club. That's the best part of it.I don't understand why folks hide so much from other folks in the clubs.I like to tell the others what I see and have on cam (even though I don't run cams often at all).Just the way i am I guess. My brothers the polar opposite to the point of hiding stuff from me and I don't even go hunt our lease. He had pics last year of 2 bucks that was pushing 140"..I finally found out about it midway through season.I told him don't hide the crap from me,he knows I'm not coming over there to hunt and definitely ain't gonna go hunt the areas he had been getting pics just cause he got pics.I went to our lease once last year and that was the Sunday of youth weekend with my son.Year before I went twice, once to drink beer and took the wife once.I just don't hunt over there even though all the land is in my name and I know there's some good deer over there.I have my little 80 acres right here below the house that I spend all my time on.Both of those bucks he had pics of were killed, big 8 by the neighbor and the 12 by his son..Brother was on suicide watch for 30 days.People get to wound up over a deer.

People get to wound up over a deer......
Grandpa always had a saying about this.
"Hunting will even turn a preacher into a SOB"
I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

Grandpa was a smart man.Ive seen great folks outside of deer season turn into complete idiots when season starts...I'll give ya another example of my brother.Few years ago my little cousin asked to go hunting. He wanted to kill a deer.Never killed one before. He was around 25yrs old.My brother took him and only took 1 gun. They got in a big shooting house overlooking our biggest and most hunted field. You would almost always see deer there.Cousin had the gun propped up in the corner. Before dark a nice buck (mid 120s) stepped out to check the field. My brother took the gun away from our cousin and wouldn't let him shoot the buck instead he shot him.Now he hangs on my brothers wall and he's proud as hell of that buck.I took him once after that and give him the gun.Told him I didn't care if a damn Elk walked out he's shooting it.Didnt see anything that afternoon.Cousin has no desire to hunt anymore. If he had let him shoot that buck I'm sure it woulda turned him into a lifelong hunter but nooo..Selfish ways.Dont understand it.

Everyone has different perspectives and budgets. Some guys spend money on stuff like salt licks and some don't. Maybe your hunting buddies don't see value in these things. Sit down ahead of time and agree as a group on what needs to be done and what doesn't. Lack of communication will quickly end a hunting club arrangement. If your buddies don't won't to spend money on these projects, you still have the option of doing it yourself.
My personal opinion is that everyone has either time or money. It's not fair for some guys to spend time and money while other guys spend neither. It's amazing how some guys can find lots of free time when hunting season rolls around but can't seem to find much time when work projects need to be done. That needs to be discussed. Way to reasonable. I say send 'em a bill for your hourly rate.

To this day I've been the only one putting out salt, protein and cameras each summer. Everyone one of us is busy which is the excuse I always get but at what point do I stop the guide service? I feel your pain. I just let go of a small lease I've had for 13 years partly for the same reason. i had the place to myself for the first couple years and I should have kept it that way and invited people when I wanted to. There are too many opinions involved with deer hunting. It sounds like a great idea to get a few "like minded" buddies together and lease some property but eventually, somebody is gonna get pissed about something. I'm sure somebody on here has a bulldoodoo fairytale story about how they've have a lease for 25 years and never a single issue amongst friends. <<< horse hockey!

There are very few folks that I share hunting information and pics with. My neighbor and I got into a new lease this year and I'm sure we will be sharing info with each other all season trying to figure the place out. Last year Eli was sitting with him one morning and handed the rifle over to Eli so he could shoot a doe instead of him shooting it. Great memories there and made Elis day. It's amazing how stupid some folks get and how much disregard for the laws there is when a buck is involved.

I get in hunting clubs to hunt. If I wanted to socialize, I would invite folks to my house. That would be a lot cheaper than club dues. Socializing and fellowship is what I have a lease for.Ive never joined a club and never will.I have 337 acres leased that I don't even hunt.Funnest time of the year for me is planting fields, hanging out and drinking a cold beer.I really couldn't care any less about hunting over there. that's just perverted There is a pasture full of goats next door and from time to time a few jackass's get loose and roam the property. You'd be in heaven over there. you mind wearing a saddle this time? roping goats is fun but kicking the hell out of you with spurs is more funner Well, that got awkward fast. Lol

People get to wound up over a deer......
Grandpa always had a saying about this.
"Hunting will even turn a preacher into a SOB"
Got to be one of the sorriest sack of $hit acts I've ever heard of on the topic of hunting. Wonder how he spins that story when he's telling folks how he slayed that monster? Hate that for your cousin. Dr. B Yeah and now we no why Trox doesn't hunt the other lease. Sounds like Brother might wanna whoop his azz if he shot a big ole good 'en
How many people am i willing to sacrifice for freedom? Everyone. All of them...
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!
