For a $100 scope those Bushnell Trophy series can't be beat. I have some that have been mounted and used since the early 90s and a couple have never needed an adjustment at the range. Rugged and hold their zero with the best of 'em. Clarity of vision thru the glass is lacking though. The Trophy that's on my muzzleloader will never get replaced, barring catastrophic failure but I do have much better glass on my .308. If you're set on going to a different scope I think you'll be surprised in the difference in glass of any major brand at $150 to $200
As for the fogging, you need to know if it's internal or external. ANY scope can be caused to fog externally.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I agree with the above if it ain't broke don't fix it (unless you wanna). I have the same sentiments about an old Bausch and lomb 3000 elite and a tasco world class with the silver pronghorn. I'll never replace those.

I've looked at some of the lower end model Leupolds. Mainly wondered what the difference in clarity would be between it and my older Bushnell. I can't speak to the lower end Leopolds specifically but you'll be amazed at the difference that better glass will make. I used the exact same scope you have from 1994 to 2005. In 2005 I was given a Zeiss Conquest. I couldn't believe the difference. The clarity is impressive but the most impressive trait is being able to stay longer in the stand because you can actually still see with a better quality scope. The Bushnell could make out dark blobs as it got close to dark. The Zeiss could still make out detail. I'm now a firm believer that a hunter should spend more on optics than they do the gun.

Save another $100 and you can get a much better scope than what you have. With $300 or thereabouts to work with you can make a substantial upgrade over what you have. $200 is just a little short IMO.

For new scopes, I totally agree. For a patient buyer who keeps his eye out here, 24hourcampfire, ebay, etc....$200 can make a substantial upgrade in glass over what he has. I would suggest looking for a Leupold VX-2 or Bushnell Elite 4200. I have seen some Zeiss Conquests go for $250 used too if he could come up with another $50. Also, if super budget tight, a used Bushnell Elite 3200 for around $150 is a substantial improvement in glass quality.

I was just recently looking at scopes but I don't remember whose website had it, but they were warning of cheap Chinese knock-offs being sold on places like Ebay. Do your homework. If it sounds too good to be true, it might be bogus.

I agree with what has been said. Just something the chew on.... I have Bushnell scopes and I do like them I believe they are a good value. That being said they are notorious for having short eye relief. The 4200 is just borderline in that regard. If you are shooting something with a little more recoil be aware.

I have shot them on lightweight 308's (and with less eye relief even now....Trijicon Accupoint) with no problems. I would imagine an A-bolt .270 would be just fine but I wouldn't want much more recoil with the 4200 eye relief.
