Never been until today so I don't know about the good old days. As for the complaints that it's all about money grubbing, ... really? Why else would it be done and why is it a problem? People have to eat. People find a variety of means for providing for themselves and their families. This is a wonderful example of how capitalism is supposed to work. BJCC made money, Coker made money, the vendors made money, lots of employees made money, and plenty of people left with stuff they wanted or needed. I'm scratching my head wondering why anyone would have a problem with that? Some people take government jobs and some people create jobs. I myself had no other expectation than that people would offer me all sorts of things for a price. I even took some of them up on their offers. I bought 4 woodhaven mouth calls from the Grabow outdoors booth for $5 each and I bought a Hunter Safety Systems X-1 safety harness for $50. Those were both pretty good deals inasmuch as I don't think I could have beaten them anywhere else. I was not sure about the harness but having gotten home and checked online it seems I saved about $10. People act like seeing a woman trying to sell pots and pans or a guy wanting to show you how great his product is at shining shoes, causes them some sort of pain and suffering? Lighten up.

Yep, It's all about the money. How dare Bob Coker try to make money!!?? I'm sure all of the people complaining perform their jobs out of charity and refuse to accept a paycheck for their efforts. This show is the payoff for a year of Bob's work.

It is what it is. I know before I go that I will not be interested in 98% of what is being peddled. I often wonder how some of the vendors make any money after the cost of travel, hotel, displays and the booth fees.

I actually made it over last night and went to the show today. Same ol show just less hunting booths. Still some good deals to be had depending on what you're look for. I bought a few things and got quite a few things for free. Some people just wanna bitch about anything. Probably complain about their work, their family, their job, their friends and got nowhere else to go but here to do it. Just my observations from my short time being here.

There are two rules for success: 1. Never tell everything you know.

The best product at the show was "The Last Click" deer call, maybe THE stupidest thing I've ever seen

The whole world revolves around money, why else would you go to work or go anywhere for that matter.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

Let's do some comparison. I did not make it this year but have gone many years. I was planning on going but schedule wouldn't allow it this year. But.... Here's my view. For the hunter to get a deal at these expos they have to have dealer that is willing to purchase a spot. Mark's did it for years, and a big one. Then they have to compete with every other dealer that wanted a booth that are selling the same thing. So there are 1000 booths I heard. How many Mark's, GRABOWS, HDC'S, Nichol's, WILEY's, etc are there? Then they are selling the same items. Unless they cut a special deal with the manufacture then it's really not going to happen. Then you have to worry about territory infringement. Where you can probably get a good deal is an odd company like a shooting house, trailer, on Sunday not wanting to load up and haul stuff back. These guys are not going to bring bows and guns, it's to difficult to sell them in an environment like that and the markup is not worth the transport. It would be good to see some manufacture companies at these shows showing off the new products. About the only way to really see stuff like that is ATA or SHOT though.
