Met Archie today at deer expo & we talked for a few min he said he's still fishing some & gave me a personal invite to go with him to his lake in Shelby county. I still watch his shows from time to time on YouTube. He's a pioneer in the outdoor tv industry imo

Archie was in sort of a bad accident a while back. As told to me from A guy that works at Simmons. Archie came in and told him that he wanted on of those shotguns that shoots those 3.5" shells and he wanted some of those hopped up shells everyone was bragging about (Nitro's). The guy told him that he didn't need that kind of gun to kill a turkey and Archie replied "are you gonna tell me what I want or sell me what I want" So the guy picks out a nice SX3 for Archie as well as the nitro shells. Ole Archie comes walking using a walker in a little over a month later and the guy at Simmons asked him if he'd been in a wreck because of the walker and both eyes had been black but were healing. Archie told him "well you could say that" He said " you remember that gun you sold me? well I took it out to kill a turkey and head one coming across the field to me so I stuck that gun out the window of my shooting house and squeezed the trigger..everything went black. I woke up looking up at the sky thinking I'm going to heaven and everything went black again. I was woke up but the boys who took me our out there, they was saying ARCHIE ARCHIE ARCHIE!!!. what happened when he squeezed the trigger was that the gun blew him backwards knocking the door of the house off the hinges and he fell to the ground. the injuries were as follows, Bruised both arms badly from trying to catch himself on the door opening, both eyes were blackened, both lungs were bruised, broke a couple ribs, set up sepsis in his lungs from the bruising, stayed in the hospital for several weeks. When Archie told them all this he asked them if they had a 20 Gauge he could buy to turkey hunt with, Good ole Archie, I watched his shows when I was a kid and he is a true pioneer in the hunting show industry

deadeye, thanks for posting that. I had heard that he'd had a bout with some health or medical issue a while back and I was just about to post an inquiry.
That's a heck of a lick and heck of a story. He's luck to have had people looking for him or he may have laid there and died.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

When was this shotgun beatdown involving Archie? This spring? Recently? He's been in bad health for a while. If he was at the Expo, glad to hear he's out and about.

Did not think you could hunt turkey from an elevated blind? It didn't say elevated. Just that he fell to the ground. If he fell over in a chair, he's falling to the ground. I know several older fellows and folks with kids that turkey hunt out of a shoot house that sits on the ground.

I was in Simmons just before this past turkey season buy a new turkey gun and the guy telling me told me it was the season before. He was in a shooting house that was on the ground and not elevated. From the description of the incident Archie put the shotgun through the window and only had one hand holding the gun (like a benchrest shooter) When was this shotgun beatdown involving Archie? This spring? Recently? He's been in bad health for a while. If he was at the Expo, glad to hear he's out and about.

10-4. Shooting houses aren't always elevated, of course.
I knew he'd had a leg amputated and was just curious. He's a stubborn ol' determined sonofagun. Glad to hear him still getting out.

I'll set the record straight. The first time three years ago he hurt himself, he shot out the window of an on ground blind and the scope on the shotgun hit him in the nose and broke it so bad that cranial fluid was leaking. He like to bled to death as he is on blood thinners and is diabetic. The second time he shot the high powered shells and collapsed a lung, broke ribs etc. Then last year he blistered his foot fishing not with me in the summer heat through his shoe. It got infected and he lost his leg after losing his toes etc. he coded three times on operating table. Then this year again not with me he stuck a fish hook in his good leg and got blood poisoning from it. Like to have lost him again as they didn't think he was going to make it, hence my call for prayers. I told him he doesn't get hurt when he's with me so he might just want to go with me. Tough old bird and a good friend. He says he doesn't buy green bananas any more. We have several shooting houses, blinds on the ground so he can sit in a chair as he cant get up and down easily. But he loves to fish and hunt still. Oh and he killed the turkey both times.
