I'm here and I'm going to try to enjoy myself but I'd rather come fall or spring.
It's too damn crowded, too damn hot and too damn expensive.
Wife dragged me to Walmarks for provisions. That place looked like a damn storm was coming. They were out of sliced cheese and a lot of stuff picked over.
I'd just as soon take my week in October and spend it fishing or bowhunting at the house.

I don't do saltwater beaches and I don't do crowds.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

We've started taking our annual trip there in early October. Less crowded, a little cooler and the raw oysters are just right.

Lots of places rent Sat-Sat during the summer, so worst day to go to grocery store (or be on I-65). Summer at beach is for my kids, fall and spring when the crowds & temps are down and the fish are biting, is when I enjoy it.

Y'all need to go somewhere besides Gulf Shores / Florida panhandle gulf coast. Florida is second only to Alaska in coast line but everyone wants to wad up in the PC beach area.

Hate the damn beach.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I have been done with the beach period for about 30 years.

All those High Rise Condos are Great for Business Owners and tax income but it has ruined the Beaches as I knew it as a Kid in Baldwin County. That seems to Be the trend with most things in it is a Beautiful tranquil area and before You know it Boom here comes the Hordes of People to screw it All Up.

We just got back last night from a week. Last week it was slow and yesterday it was like the flood gates opened. Traffic and idiots everywhere, glad we were leaving. I'd just rather stay here at the house.

Agree. Hurricane Frederic all but wiped out what little bit was there, and it wasn't much. Since then, it's been nothing but hotel and condo after hotel and condo built, completely spoiling what used to be great. What used to take an hour to get to OB/GS on two lane roads, now takes 1.5-2 hours on 4 lanes, depending on traffic and lights. We go down there to eat occasionally, but haven't actually been to the beach in years.

Every year the traffic gets worse it seems. I see the traffic on 331, 81 and 85 going south all the time. I honestly don't see how they have room down there to park all the dang vehicles. I know I don't go down there unless it is an absolute necessity.

I love the beach, we have always gone Inc late June or early July. After this year I said never again. The last 2 years it has taken us 9.5 hours to get home from what should be a 6.5 or 7 hour trip. I-65 from Prattville thru Alabaster is a virtual parking lot when it squeezes down to 2 lanes.

The last 2 years is really the first time I've seen traffic be that bad. We will go in Spring or Fall if we go next year.

We had horrible traffic from Bham to Montgomery and I can tell beach traffic down here is up from just 2-3 years ago.

I prefer Oct if given the choice. If the kids get a fall break thats when we go.

Last time I was in PCB was summer of 1989, 18 years old just out of HS with 7 of my buddies. Stayed at the Days Inn, it was 3 floors and cost us a arm and a leg. We had 2 rooms and they charged us the nightly rate per person (the guys we sent in to pay for the rooms told them how many of us there was, DA's). You could see the beach from the road, McDonalds had Big Macs buy 1 get 1 free, I met a blonde from Louisiana who I spent the whole week with and we got just enough of the deposit back split between the 8 of us that my buddy and I had enough to put gas in the truck and buy something to eat about Gasden when we knew we had enough gas to get home. Best week ever and not been back.

Finally deported myself from the peoples republik of Kaliforkistan.

We go the end of august so it doesn't interfere with Kentucky bow season - its less crowded because most schools are back in session. But even then its still crowded

This is why folks pay twice as much to go to 30A.... Less crowds and traffic. And no high rises.

Last summer the Mrs. and I went to Savanna and St Augustine Beach. When in Savanna we took 1/2 day and drove to Tybee Island, wasted 1/2 day. I told my wife it was Georgia's Gulf Shores. I'm so glad we didn't stay there but stayed in Savanna. Then is was down to St. Augustine Beach. Daylight and dark. Not crowded at all , traffic not a problem , buildings not jammed on top of each other. You fellers should try some new scenery , IMO. The time you're stuck in traffic down around the Gulf Shores/PC Beach area you could easily drive elsewhere and have a more enjoyable trip.
