The first thing I look for is a tree to climb! If it's not there, I'll set up in the shade with the right direction.
I'll cut limbs, pines or cedars, and use them for cover from ground height to the top of my head. I'll leave gaps or holes to shoot thru.
Most important factors to me are being still, wind direction, having room to raise weapon to shoot, and being in the shadows. What he said

I do it frequently turkey hunting and occasionally deer hunting. I just find a good tree to set up against and cut leafy branches and stick them in the ground in a circle around me. Works like a charm. I've done this and have killed one of my best Alabama bucks sitting in a blind made of just a few pine branches stuck in the ground around me. Simple setup. Use enough to break up your outline but not too much that it becomes very noticeable.
