I don't know how the gun show will be this weekend since this is the first time is will be held at the Hoover Met in B'ham. The Alabama Gun Collector's Association shows have been held at the Civic Center downtown since I was old enough to remember going. That has been a LONG time.
If you are unfamiliar with the shows this is the largest show that I know of in the State. They do the show 3 times a year. Hopefully this move will be good for everyone including those attending the show.

I'll be there tomorrow. Glad they made the move. Closer to me and I don't have to go to downtown Birmingham.

I liked the new venue as well the parking was easier and didn't cost another $10. The place was pretty nice. The summer show always has a few less tables. I couldn't decide if the show was as big as they normally are but it was a pretty good crowd while I was in there Saturday and I was there mid-morning until mid-afternoon. Hopefully that will prove to be a good move.
I saw some good deals. A Winchester Model 88 almost followed me home guy had about $550 on it which is a good deal I just talked myself out of it telling myself it was a post-64 and I needed a pre-64. Probably should have bought it. Saw several good deals on rifles. One guy had a mint M77 Ruger 300 Win Mag asking $450 said he would take $400. Nice walnut stock on it. You can't buy a rifle like that for $400 anywhere else that I know of.

When the next show is on if you have a table tell us where it is I want to come by and meet you. I think I became a hoarder and the last 3-4 years I quit having a table. We had a table at a lot of the shows even at Tulsa a couple of times when I was growing up. I remember one time the truck wasn't running good and we were headed to Kansas City so decided to leave the rifles and got out some pistol cases. We threw nothing but Colt pistols in the back of an Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser station wagon and headed out... we had an entire table full of nothing but the Snake guns. Dad was never into single actions that heavy. I was still just a kid. I think I rode on top of them making faces at people out the back window the whole way there. That's how big a part of my life guns have been. When I think about how much those guns are worth today it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

I think the next gun collectors show is October. I don't know if I'll have a table yet or not. Depends on how much stuff I need/want to sell...
There was a guy set up just across from me that had at least 10 Pythons and had the original boxes for a lot of them.
The man there with the Colt Collectors Assn. told my FIL he had a $3500.00 1911 stolen sometime after the place closed Friday after dealer set up and the time he came in Saturday morning. Only folks in there during that time was other dealers and police
There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!

Dang they will have to get a handle on that quick or that isn't going to go over good. Usually the people around you watch out for everyone else's stuff but it is a different world we are living in today. Anyone could have stolen it. Even the police. I remember seeing that table with the Pythons. I didn't even stop to look at them at today's prices. I might know where one or two are stashed for a rainy day. I was always a little partial to the Anaconda anyway.
