Just for ya'll totally internet incompetent folks, you can get your own website these days for about $1.50 a month, which is about all you need for loading pictures and doing your stuff. My kids got their own websites and make their own bank, it aint complicated.
If you want something that can handle the kind of traffic we get here then it will cost you a good bit more.

I don't understand why they went from free to $400; seems like a really bad business decision to me. I doubt 1% of their customers will pay that much. I sure won't, but there is some price I would have paid. I pay $11 a year to read the comics in a format I like. I would have paid PB that much, maybe even a little more. And I don't have many pics on there and they would surely make money on me. Now they get nothing. So who can tell me where to get one of those cheap web sites? I guess it's time PCP University got a web site anyway

Denver-based Photobucket on Thursday said that a side business discovered by customers long ago is not sustainable. It stuck to its new policy to charge up to $400 a year to people using Photobucket to host a large number of images.
This path to a more sustainable business model allows us to develop an even more robust product to meet our customers needs, Photobucket chief executive John Corpus said in a statement.
In late June, the company begin charging $60 to $400 a year to customers who were using the site as essentially a hosting service. Users could store images on Photobucket and link to the images from message boards and other websites. The service had previously been free and supported by ads.
But 75 percent of Photobuckets costs originated from non-paying users leveraging 3rd party hosting, Corpus added. And it resulted in zero revenue.
As a business, the company turned the service into a paid feature and offered 500 gigabytes of storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 per year, which allowed for unlimited image linking and third-party hosting. The cheaper $60-a-year plan allowed for 52 GB of storage but no third-party hosting.
The problem for affected users was that their photos disappeared online. They were replaced with images that asked the user to unlock their account because 3rd Party Hosting has been temporarily disabled.
Customers accused Photobucket of blackmail and being forced to pay a ransom. One user who wrote to The Denver Post said that hes used Photobucket for nine years and posted 9,800 photos.
Photobucket said it let those users either subscribe to the new plan or migrate the photos off the site.
Photobucket, which started around 2003, became one of the nations largest photo-sharing sites in the early 2000s. Two years ago, the company said traffic to its site still hit about 60 million unique visitors per month. During its dot-com heyday, the company was acquired by News Corp., which also owned Match.com.
After moving into mobile apps and home goods, the company made personal changes and replaced long-time chief executive Tom Munro in January 2016. Corpus, who joined Photobucket after it acquired his own social video site Milyoni, became now CEO. At the time, the company employed 53 people mostly in Denver.
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

Sorry Skinny, I haven't gotten to read much lately and missed that. Most of my pics on there are of dead turkeys or a field of chufas, and all are on my phone or computer, so they can have them. But I would have paid $25 or so to keep using it. I guess the lawsuit prevented them offering a cheap plan with limited use.

Very Good post swampy. News Corp also bought MySpace and that went the way of the Dodo bird too.
Folks just need to find another place to host pictures.

Ok I'm going to go ahead and ask this question. What is a 3rd party hosting that PB and all these threads about it is?

Ok I'm going to go ahead and ask this question. What is a 3rd party hosting site that PB and all these threads about it is? It's referring to "hotlinking" a picture hosted there onto another website.

It's referring to "hotlinking" a picture hosted there onto another website. 10-4. Then why don't they put under every picture hotlinked to a third party site ( this photo is brought to you by Photobucket.) This would be free advertising on those sites.

I just use Imgur to share pictures to a forum. Easy and free. www.imgur.com - When you go there, expect odd things and meme's to be on the front page. Imgur is a social media platform, kind of like reddit. Do you have to worry about NSFW stuff popping up on the front page? last thing I need is to go to imgur at work to post an innocent picture on Aldeer, only to have a bunch of nudie pics pop up on my work computer....

Ok I'm going to go ahead and ask this question. What is a 3rd party hosting that PB and all these threads about it is? Like I said in an earlier post. If one of ya'll post the most awesome picture ever on the internet on here then it gets linked through the billions of other internet folks. Or if one of the teague boys post their latest crystal meth goat farming pics on here it gets linked through the billions of pervs who want to see that. And we aint got the money or the time to handle that kind of lawyer ball.

Imgur, here I come....just wish there was a way to get all the pics already uploaded to PB into Imgur Just making sure you know you can download your album from PB. It took a few tries but it worked last night late. Downloaded everything and only took a minute. But I don't have a lot on there either.
