I have a 1.5 Acer lake behind my house that I drained and restocked 3 years ago with largemouth and bluegill. I've lightly fished it about 5 times this year.much to my surprise I have a lot of 3-4.5 # bass. This morning I slip down there fishing with a weight less 10 inch worm I started catching warmouth. They where destroying my worm . I've caught a bunch of these things growing up in different fishing holes but I'm wondering if I should be worried about this or possibly take action.

Yep they be some gooduns in there. I was catching them on a 10 inch worm (or how ever long the ol monster zooms are )with a 5/0 worm hook ! I could see a bunch of small one too. I can't recall eating warmouth. I would imagine it would be about like a shell cracker.

Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

I'd get out all of em I could Nate, those suckers are way to agressive and will eventually eat most of the food that everything else should be eating.
Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

They are super aggressive. We used to catch them in Southeast Georgia around the Okefenokee swamp. Some would go over a pound and tasted really good.

Very aggressive fish...keep them fished hard, and don't throw any back, even if they're small. Never heard of them ruining a pond, but I've always operated on the assumption that something that aggressive and that prolific needs some heavy predation!

Thanks y'all. I believe I'll start trying to remove some hopefully catch enough for supper. 2 things I've noticed with warmouth is they show up where they are not stocked and they seemingly disappear after a while but I don't want them to ruin my lake in the meantime.

Caught a fat one in a private lake in North Shelby the other day; attacked a 6" Yum Dinger w/ a 5/0 hook. Pretty fish; will post a pic once I figger out what to do about this Photobucket change Just use Imgur instead. It's very simple to use. www.imgur.com

Look at the bright side. They are food for your bass. I've been catching them all over the South since the 60's. Never heard of them taking over anything but a frying pan. I think they would attack a q12" worm too. I've caught them on 9" ones.
