Looking for a new 7mm-08. Been looking at Remington 700 CDL SSF, , Weatherby Mark V SS carbine, Savage Model 16 SS Lightweight . Alabama deer gun, shooting houses, tree stand use. Like the shorter barrels but don't won't to give up accuracy. Daughter has 700 SPS Youth. Whole family shooots that gun. Thanks for input.

It may be a few hundred ft less FPS but just because one has a shorter barrel doesnt mean its less accurate than one with a longer barrel.

Id have to look at a Kimber in the range of guns mentioned.

Model 7 unless you are in the mood to drop some coin. Then I'd suggest a Kimber.

The Vanguards(Howa action) have a good rep; though not that light at 7lbs.

More money than anything listed at around $1600, but since you mentioned the light weight Savage, I'll suggest something you may not know about, the Barrett Fieldcraft, made by Barrett in Tennessee, the 50 cal guys.

They weigh 5 lbs and I've seen 500 yard groups that you could cover with the palm of your hand. They bought the Forbes stuff when they went out of business. They are basically making a production model of the custom $3500 NULA. All reports have been excellent. Carbon fiber stocks individually bedded with pillars.

When I get my gun fund built back up I'll be getting an 18.5" barrel model with a suppressor.

If not spending that kind of money,my vote is for a Tikka.
