I need to get more details tomorrow, but I think my parents may have been scammed by a window salesman. Talked them into replacing 5 standard sized windows and one larger, maybe 5 x 3 single pane, for somewhere around $5000.
I did quick search on Lowes website and double hung insulated vinyl replacement windows were a little over $200 each. Didn't price out the larger unit but all of the materials shouldnt be over two grand. The salesman was from out of state.
Am I off base on the price of this job ?

There is a company doing them here for $158 ea. I'd find out what they paid him and put a halt to any transactions. $200 is a fair price. It sounds like you need to tell them you'll negotiate any repairs on their home. There are a multitude of Jerks taking advantage of the elderly.

I didnt get details until I talked with my sister tonight and plan on checking into it tomorrow. This snake used a bunch of names he threw at them to get them comfortable with the "good deal" they were getting.

Just noticed that this was a replacement job and not original. Should have read more carefully. Definitely a scam. Should be no more than $200-$300/window on the 36x60 depending on quality of window used.
