Needing some insight here. I planted 2 Better Boy plants around a month ago (pre-started Bonnie Plants brand), and they are still only about 1-2" tall. They look otherwise healthy and green, with some blooms beginning to sprout on the plants. I put some Epsom salt with them per the instructions on the bag as well. Just curious to know if it's normal for them to be that short at this stage or if something needs done with them?

1 - 2 inches tall or 1 - 2 feet tall?

My Better Boys are about 3' tall and covered with blooms and tomatoes.

Nitrogen got mine moving. Mine are in the ground. Miracle grow may help.

Fertilize the tar out of them. I use the blue miracle grow at the base every week to 10 days and my garden is doing great. Epsom salt is for leaves and chlorophyll not stem growth.

Thanks for the tip. Do you just sprinkle out the miracle gro granules at the base?

Here's what's wrong with them: Every large plant nursery sprays their plants with growth inhibitor to keep them short and pretty in their trays at the store. It takes it a while to wear off.

That's just another reason I either start my own, or buy from a mom and pop nursery.

That'll work or get the spray. I also pour lime out around them to keep the fruits from bursting.

too much water is what causes fruits to burst, lime stops blossom end rot.
