central ala,
Basically, I need a NON-LETHAL type of landmine. More like a percussion grenade with a trip wire that when a deer walks through it pulls the pin and goes off. Can I buy percussion grenades? Will they possibly start a fire? Would the old canister smoke grenade work? Any other suggestions??

Nope.

Seen them in action and the deer get use to them. They'll figure out same thing every night.

Rig something up that when they trip wire it mixes toilet cleaner and aluminum foil in a bottle.

It's a slight delay but will explode.

Yes that's correct.
Forgot that detail.

It would be easier to rig some kind of noise maker to a motion detector. A siren or something. So that every time it walked up in its range it went off. But I guess they might get used to that too.

Wont go into detail but a mouse trap, a shotgun shell, small nail and just a few other items properly assembled would probably get ya where you what to go.Heard about it from a friend, would never personally assemble an IED.

I heard you can get human hair from the barber shop and put it in panty hose and hang them out around the garden the human scent should run them off. Not sure how often you'd have to change it out thro.

Did you play watermelon crawl for them to dine to?

Run an electric fence around your garden and wire in some 4' fluorescent bulbs in series with the fence wire. They will flash every time the fence hits, though I guess this may not really help you out if they're eating your melons in the daytime.

Just put up a deer stand. It's works for us. Everytime we put up a stand the deer just dissappear never to be seen again.

central ala,
I have an electric fence around it now that hasn't kept them out. This is a new field I've planted and they are actually eating the plants here. In the other fields they only ate the melons. Its done at night. I've tried hair. I've tried Irish Spring soap. I've tried drier sheets. I've tried spraying the melons with a solution containing hot sauce. I've tried music on a timer going on and off at 15 minute increments. Lights on a timer. Nothing has worked so far thru the years.

Go to site one or ewing irrigation and buy the deer scram. Comes in a 5 gal bucket and normally keeps them off plants 4-6 weeks depending on rain.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
